Does someone know what happend if mine piece of crunching-work lead to an important discovery for CERN?

Will I get an e-mail from CERN that is was mine contribution that leads to this discovery or will I never find out that is was mine part of the job?

Will I get an trophy from the board of directors of CERN of goes someone else show of with mine works?

Who can tell my? Thanks for informing my.

Well I am sorry to say the LHC is a huge project with
tens of thousands of conributors. We are actually studying
the stability of the beam in an upgraded version of the
accelerator. Ther will not be a Eureka moment really and
anyway rewards and prizes will go to the bosses or just
possibly teams. Every little helps in our particular work
and I hope you will continue to participate.

Wtach for news Wednesday onwards when CERN will hold a press
conference and Webcast concerning recent progress on the
search for the Higgs boson.
Regards. Eric.

I have just read a preliminary announcement addressing your reference to the Higgs Boson. A fabulous achievement, the culmination of years of theoretical work coupled with tenacious physical experiments. It would be a perfect event if distributed computing efforts associated with the work at LHC played even a small contribution to the discovery. Since the onset of SETI@home it has been my belief that Distributed Computing will one day be recognized as an important milestone in the history of science, a linchpin of scientific method.
Now maybe we can move on to the other 96% of the universe!

Press conference was amazing -- although I did understand next to nothing -- the moment where the slide w/ "5 sigma" was shown and the audience started applauding furiously was worth watching!

And thinking of the fact that we helped building the LHC -- if only by calculating some beam trajectories -- that's just awsome!

edit: Higgs Boson Memes
