Dear volunteers, The Sixtrack BOINC project has been migrated to a new server today. If you should encounter any difficulties with the setup, please detach from the project and attach again. BOINC and Sixtrack should be fully operational again from 2PM CET. (12:00 UTC) Best regards, the BOINC service team. |

Well, I guess it's a good thing! I checked the server statis and was amazed to see 1694 tasks ready to send. So I updated my account and got none!!! Then read your message and detached and reattached , still got nothing. I do notice I'm an hour or so ahead of schedule. Is that the problem? I also notice no average run times or users in the last 24Hrs. Respectfully, RH Pick |

I've lost credits too. I thought that detaching and reattaching might straighten it out, but it didn't. |

I lost 27.6 credits today. Also I don't get any work from server even though it's connecting fine. |

Seven of the nine server tasks are down. And now they're up again! Thanks for the fast reaction. I had 41.299 credits before the transition, see http://boincstats.com/en/stats/3/user/detail/17128/lastDays |

Friends, we have updated all elements in the tools chain. This includes the machine, as well as the boinc server version and especially the sixtrack program. The new program will allow us to have much better accuracy in determining the properties of the accelerator. As a side effect it also will allow to capture any hardware errors in your machines, should these happen. (Overclockers! Be aware!) A major study has been launched to verify our assumptions about the program computational accuracy and properties of hardware. We would like to verify that the program is running on the newest and also the oldest hardware. Please, let us know if you notice any problems. I apologize for any glitches that may have happened with migration of the data base and other mishaps with the system. Obviously, in case you lost points during the migrations we will compensate. Thank you, Igor Zacharov. skype id: igor-zacharov |

I apologize for any glitches that may have happened with migration of the That absolutely fine, and I thank you for that. A few lost credits wouldn't have been the end of the world as we know it ;) I wish al luck for the further project and Thanks for that information, it's always good to have responsive admins :) Grüße vom Sänger |

Got a bunch of tasks and crunching away. Just a note, the new version of BOINC (7.0.25) doesn't play well when you have Projects that push a lot of Tasks to the BOINC client, e.g., SETI@Home, combined with Projects that have only occasional Tasks like LHC@Home. This is a feature(?) (or bug) and can keep you from ever getting Tasks from the occasional Project. I run SETI, Einstein, Test4Theory, and LHC. Of course SETI and Einstein tend to load up BOINC. Since this is a known issue to the people in the Test4Theory Project (which always has work) we know that if we don't see a T4T Task running we need to Suspend the BOINC hogs and then BOINC will fetch work for the other Projects. Once work has been fetched it runs happily under the BOINC client (T4T uses an Oracle Virtual Machine that BOINC feeds a Task.) |

2 reasons I could imagine : Each failed attempt to get work from an intermittent project increases the delay until the next attempt is made. Pushing a lot of tasks / stuffing the cache until it busts seems to be related to a wrong handling of a high duration correction factor in later server side versions. Primaboinca for example always gives out 50 results, even if the client requests only very little (DCF=20 and higher) - plus there is no (or a way too short) delay configured between the fetch attempts, often resulting in a new request while it is still downloading the old assigned results (which do not count for the cache yet). So you might end up with 100 results (2.5 hours each) from a request for 2500 seconds. With a cache stuffed like this, the client doesn't request more work unless you pause some of it. |

Friends, last year some experts downloaded by hand our optimized executable for Linux, which would run faster on their specific machine. We could not make it available universally, because it had special instructions not available on older machines. Now, all the runs with that old executable do not pass the validation step, because processing has changed. Please, remove this old executable, such that new one can be downloaded by boinc. We do pay attention to optimization. The new executable should contain code for different machines. If for some machines it doesn't work, let us know. Thank you, Igor. skype id: igor-zacharov |

Well since the migration one of my Linux computers can no longer able to talk to the project. I saw there was some work so tried to update and get some. It last spoke to the project on the 4th of April. I have updated, no go. I Reset Project (twice), no go. I Detached and Re-attached (twice), still no go. The Project directory has been re-created under the BOINC directory, but I now have no files in the project directory due to this bogus error message. I keep getting the response that the Project is shut down for Maintenance. All Server lights are green and my other 3 computers are not getting this message, they in fact can download fresh work and upload with no problems. I can't work it out. My two Linux machines have the same OS and all was working up until recently. All the points lost yesturday have came back! Not yet on my account. I got more points for the tasks that I got last night, but if you substract them, then it goes down to the old value. So the points are still missing. Not that it's that important, just wanted to say that it wasn't fixed as you mentioned :) |

Conan, you are probably hitting on the old address in the cache which points to the old machine. That machine is indeed shut down for maintenance. Try to flush out your cache. Igor. skype id: igor-zacharov |

Conan, Thanks Igor, The only thing I hadn't done was to stop BOINC and restart it. I did this and all is now working fine, pity I missed all the work. Thanks again Conan |
