One for British readers only, I'm afraid. I just happened to catch an obscure little BBC TV documentary, featuring CERN and the LHC. The series "On the road with..." appears sporadically on the BBC domestic News Channel, and this week it's: Matthew Stadlen spends the day at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research near Geneva, with accelerator physicist Steve Myers - though he gets a good tour round, meets a lot of other researchers as well, and by asking 'cheeky chappie' type questions actually gets some good answers, too - it was recorded recently enough to include mention of the super-fast neutrino reports. It'll be re-broadcast several times over the weekend (schedule), and available for at least a week on the BBC iPlayer. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the LHC, or any sort of fundamental physics research. They don't specifically mention the volunteer computing (BOINC) input into the LHC design, though there is some discussion and some brief images of the on-site Grid computing resources for post-processing collision data. |

Thanks, sounds interesting (not heard of the program myself :)), set my box to flip over when it's next broadcast. |

Thank you for this link. I can get BBC here on the west coast of Canada so I will check it out. |
