Hello,

I have the same problem and I think there are more.
After reading all the posts I found a link to the server page and there are 20000+ WU's to cruch, at last, but they won't.

There is more work for the admins today ;-)

Project status page link shows that all is up and running, and there is about 21k WUs ready to send, but I've got the same problem:

Greetings,

Same here:-

LHC@home 1.0 15/09/2011 12:00:16 pm Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks
LHC@home 1.0 15/09/2011 12:00:16 pm Message from server: Error in request message: fgets() failed

When I first looked at the status there were 444 tasks in progress, now it's 450, so something's happening somewhere...

John.

Thanks for reporting guys!

We have a problem with the server setup and are trying to debug this. (I get the same error with my boinc client.)

We'll keep you posted as soon as we have understood and fixed this.

Best regards, Nils [on behalf of the LHC@home team.]

I got two machines that got work just fine a few minutes ago after hitting update.

A third computer is still showing fgets() failed messages.

You need to detach from the project and attach again. (We had a left-over reference to our old server that is cached on the client side.)

Sorry for the trouble.

Yes, that is other host is working now aftet detach-reattach.

On another machine, it was fine after just a project update.

On another one, i tried this trick and it seemed to work.
Exit boinc manage and client
for windows anyway, find RUN and enter cmd
type ipconfig /flushdns <enter>
type exit
restart boinc
Update on lhc 1.0 and it fetches a new master and work

Well I did what Nils mentioned on the main page, but got the error that this URl is not that of a BOINC-based project.

I used this one: http://lhcathome.web.cern.ch/LHCathome/Sixtrack/

Can someone please give the right URL.

Thanks.

I did the un and reattach thing and all is working fine, except for some reason I'm being limited to running only 3 tasks at a time. Before the change this week I was able to download 15-20 tasks at a time and control the amount running simultaneously. (to keep the CPU temp down) Is this being controled by LHC or is it on my end?

Hasn't worked for me, I'm afraid. Tried two boxes, both get this:-

LHC@home 1.0 15/09/2011 5:02:16 pm Started download of sixtrack_530.8_windows_intelx86.exe
LHC@home 1.0 15/09/2011 5:02:17 pm Temporarily failed download of sixtrack_530.8_windows_intelx86.exe: http error
--- 15/09/2011 5:04:20 pm Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
--- 15/09/2011 5:04:21 pm Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

Both files (the exe and the task) fail in the same way, the .exe after 0.25KiB and the task after 0.31KiB.

I'm leaving it to re-try at the moment, in the hope that it's just the load on the server.

John.

I see the same on another box I did a detach/atach a few minutes ago. It got 6 WU's but nothing is downloading. But first the .exe file is needed. On the other machine one WU ran, a new will not download as well. Something with the HTTP error suggest that it may be a server problem. I guess we have to wait until the admins got wake.
The LHC has stable beames however. That is a good thing.

I've noticed the above after every poll for work. The polling seems to have been successfully completed however.

EDIT: Ignore...I detached/reattached to project and now all is well.

We have changed the URLs and we have adjusted various files in the system.
Result is that old values, which are cached in the client do not work any more.
This is the case in particular for the scheduler, which gives all sorts of errors.

If there are problems, please re-attach to project using the correct URL:
http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack

Please, let us know if the above doesn't help.
