LHC@home

I have been a member of BONIC for a number of years and one of the projects, I have been a member of, is \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"LHC@Home\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\".

Two questions -

1) Should not members have been given the opportunity to use \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"LHC@Home 2\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", before it went public - by notifying members by e-mail?

2) How do I update from \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"LHC@Home\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" to \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"LHC@Home 2\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"? - I have looked at the FAQs, but I can\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t see how to do this. As a software engineer, I would have thought that there would be some \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"clicked-on\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" software, which would allow this.

Join LHC@home2 the same way almost 8,000 other people have joined... go to their home page and follow the links. If they can do it so can you. It\'s not in the FAQ, it\'s right under your nose on the home page.

BTW they\'re not allowing new members at the moment. No, there is no official notice regarding when the doors will be open to new members. Watch the notices on their home page.

It is great that you want to volunteer, John. However I hope you realize that this is a beta test of "simulated" data. It has not been promised that we will be able to actually crunch the real thing.

(Sorry if that sounds a bit stilted, but I hate all the slashes that show up when one uses apostrophes.)
