I\'ve recently joined LHC@home and I don\'t know when my PC connects to the \"grid\". How do I know? It is set to join after 3 minutes, but nothing happens, no network activity increase no CPU activity nothing,... shouldn\'t I see any difference in my PC? (at least in the sounds it\'s making the cooler and HDD device).

... but nothing happens ...

forum_thread.php?id=2261 : Please note: this project rarely has work

As soon as it has work, you will see it in the BOINC manager, in the task manager, it will produce (a little) web and HDD traffic and it will run hotter.

I just watched a video about LHC@home in a list of videos sent out by Dave Anderson from a recent conference.

The speaker said that they had arranged for WU\'s from LHC but for Linux only. Is there any way to communicate to them how many possible machines they are giving up by not wanting to deal with Windows?

LHC@home WUs are not running on Linux. If you refer to the BOINC_VM virtual machine it runs on any OS if you have VirtualBox installed. It boots a Scientific Linux which is a CERN program. The whole idea is to run Linux as a guest OS on any host OS, which may be Linux, Windows or Mac OS X.
