Scientists may be closing in on the elusive Higgs Boson, the "God particle". When they get there they will find a sign that reads,
"I'm here and I'm really mad about what you have done to MY planet."

A nice article by Reuters.

Big Science projects like LHC and the proposed Compact Linear Collider cost too much and are starving other projects. The ITER nuclear fusion experiment has already tripled its cost (from 5 million euros to 15 million euros) and is taking most of the science budget of the European Union without hoping to provide a single kW of electricity. Those projects are being financed for political reasons only. I am against them.
