First neutrino\'s were confirmed to have mass (from looking at data)
... and now this.

Seeing news articles use phrases like \'They say the data point to five Higgs bosons with similar masses but different electric charges.\' instead of referring to more mathematical theories is quite exciting.

Yes.. DATA.. not just theories. It\'s exciting times for physics.
I'm not the LHC Alex. Just a number cruncher like everyone else here.

For the sake of truth, these data to support the assumption of multiple Higgs came from the Tevatron. LHC will deliver data from the LHCB experiment but I dont know if they have already formulated some results.

I\'m just excited because physics is going to be about the Science, experimentation and discovery... not just the math which tries to extrapolate based on what we already know.

I am searching for gravitational waves on Einstein@home. The data come from the LIGO observatories in the USA, the GEO600 in Germany and, perhaps tomorrow, from the Virgo Observatory in Italy. Nobody would build and mantain such an observatory if Einstein\'s equations had not predicted them. The same can be said of black holes. Nobody would build a Large Hadron Collider to search for the Higgs boson if theory had not predicted the existence of such a particle. Einstein has said: theory determines what can be observed.

High energy physics is not the whole physics field. There are people making experiments with Bose-Einstein condensates of a few thousand supercooled atoms by dropping them in a shaft like Galileo did with stones from the Pisa Tower. Other people are working with beams made up of a single photon or a single atom or molecule in order to understand better quantum mechanics. See also QuantumFire@home for this kind of research. Big Science is not all of science.

The Nobel prize winners of this year have used sticker tape on graphite to obtain graphene and a Nobel prize, in the best tradition of \"strings and wax\" experiments.
