The Server Status now shows 4,177 results in progress.

. . . looks like the rumors of the demise of LHC@Home were premature.

I\\\'ll rush right over and wipe the Linux drives and install Windows..... NOT. :)

You might install VirtualBox and Windows as a guest OS but the app will be slower. I made this experience with Linux and Solaris as a guest running SETI. About 4 times slower, so I gave up.

This posted in the boinc@australia forum on the 8th feb

This is only hearsay but thought it might be worth mentioning .

On ABC radio today there was an interview with a scientist from ANU (Australian National University)who is working at the LHC. He said that sometime in the next month the LHC will be up and running but only at 1/2 power due to current equipment not being able to handle the amount of heat generated running at full power. He says it could be up and running for at least 12 months to do limited research until such time as they can do upgrades to cope with the heat, which could take up to another 12 months to complete.

So sometime in the next couple of months we might see some work generated to feast upon.

Since there doesnt seem to be much posted about if or when or why work is being generated, thought this might be of some use .
