I\'ve read that a dr. Bob Bishop, president of the newly founded International Center for Earth Simulation, based in Geneva apparently with some help from CERN, is proposing to build a supercomputer to simulate the Earth\'s environment, since he does not believe that even the LHC GRID is powerful enough to achieve such a simulation. He was CEO of supercomputer builder Silicon Graphics, which still builds them for the US Defense Department. In his presentation given at CERN on Jauary 29 no menstion is made of climate prediction.net. It looks like the link is not working anymore, but I have seen it yesterday. It pointed to 2 slide presentations, one .pdf and the other .ppt. |
