Message 21734 - Posted: 9 Dec 2009, 12:26:55 UTC

I know this sounds like the kid in the back of the car in various TV commercials, but are we there yet?

I read that the LHC is back up and running but will LHC@Home ever get work units or is it now a lost cause?

All the answers can be found in the \"Café\" under \"Apologies\". Look for the posts coming from \"bigmac\".

Well I'm no clearer having read that thread. While it's nice that someone went to so much trouble to explain things, I think that basically we are up the creek without a paddle. Maybe I missed something, but I'm still unsure whether or not to give up on this.

Sadly enough that is the only available information. Whether to give up or not is up to your discretion. You have the same information that some use to blindly believe in this project and that others use to discard this project as failed.

It is up to you.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I think it's time I found another project.

As long as this website remains up, I will hold out hope that there will be new workunits for BOINC\'ers to crunch.

The keyword is patience.

I'll reattach to the project when and if that happens. No point in having Boinc constantly polling for work when nothing is even being considered.

I put no new work long ago, so my BOINC client is not asking in vain.

I continue to have my BOINC client hammer at the door hoping that someone will answer. Meanwhile, I crunch for SETI and EINSTEIN.

As you can see, I still hang on to it in the hope something happens. The trouble is, unlike some, I never got any work units in the first place so am still at a staggering 0. Meanwhile I signed on to a few others.

A very good weekend for the LHC: well over 1 million collisions at 900 GeV and about 50 000 collisions at 2.36 TeV
Mon 14 Dec

So let\\\'s get some DATA and crunch.

Maybe the LHC@HOME team, needs to profile them a bit again.

Under the scientist so that they are going to use LHC@HOME.

"A virtual Black Hole." Now that's scary. Maybe we will become the next CERN study.
