l@h use simd? At SETI@home you can choose an optimized application for your OS and your CPU with SIMD support. However, the latest program called Astropulse so far does not run on optimized applications and runs only on the standard SETI client. Also note tha SETI apps are open source, like BOINC, that is you can download the source code and modify it, if you dare! Tullio |

l@h use simd? seti are useless... thanks for replies!! So, lhc prefer to keep more compatibility instead of performace. rigth choose is a scientific result, anyway simd are very powerful. |

most prabaly sse and sse2. This app. is not that old and SSE2 even has been here for more then 5 years i tink, P4\'s amd K7. If they used a good compiler, wich i tink they do. It is auto on when able. |

The reason the sixtrack app may not use simd instructions is for compatibility. They need identical results. They do not even use standard math libs for this reason, since those can vary for each generation of CPU. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
