Hi folks,

I\'ve BOINC on my Mac and I would take part of LHC@Home, why actually LHC@Home doesn\'t support Mac computer ? :-(

Mac work fine for other project of world community grid, why not for the LHC ?

Regards,
Yoann

The LHC sixtrack applicaiton was compiled with a special fortran compiler which is only available for Linux and Windows. If other compilers would be used, it could produce differnt results.

The only was to crunch LHC on the Intel Mac is via CrossOver or Parallels. Parallels has much more overhead like with CrossOver...
A howto for seting up CrossOver for LHC is available on my hoemepage : http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/MacOS_Crossover_howto.html

I run windows 2000 under parallels and it works quite well. You could run linux under parallels if you wanted and perhaps get better performance. I installed parallels because I needed it for another application, but for LHC but it works well. XP is probably the best OS for parallels but I had an old copy of W2K so it was the most expedient option for me.

I run parallels in \\\"coherence\\\" mode which give me access to the windows applications and mac desktop at the same time.

My virtual windows system has been in operation since 15 Aug 08 and has processed 320 units of work.
