I'm running Mac OS X 10.4 (tiger), and have heard that OS X is basically the same as UNIX. My BOINC client, however, has recieved no work, even though it should. Any ideas?

There is no MacOS application on LHC@Home, only Linux and Windows.

MacOS is a Unix, too. But, that the application would ran on MacOS it must compiled for each Unix. LHC has used a very special compiler, which is only avialblable for Windows and Linux.

A other soultion to crunch LHC with a Intel Mac, is to use CrossOver. I have written a howto about this : http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BOINC%20howtos.html
CrossOver emulates some things (API calls) from Windows. So it is posible to let some Windows science applications running on the Mac side by side the native MacOS BOINC client.

Thanks, I'll try that. (But isn't Unix Unix? Why does Unix code have to be redone for another Unix?)

Over the very long history of Unix it was used by a lot of vendors on a lot of different hardware. So there are now a lot of different Unixes out there which are not binary compatible which each other...

I have a NEW MAC OS X Laptop and am not getting any work units, I had this problem on a PC when I was using one and LHC wasn\'t putting out any work. Question: is LHC coasting on their work load because of major problems OR are MAC\'s not being supported? I had run across a site that didn\'t support the MAC and quit the site, BUT, because of interest in their project I logged on again and found they were now able to use MAC support! IF they can get it together, (they are not as big as LHC), what gives??? Blowing up the planet is NOT a desire of mine and IF you fail in a test, that could result..., so let me help OK? I don\'t care if you ONLY give me housekeeping stuff to work, but give us something!!!
