I want to reinstall LHC@home (after I lost everything due to a lightning strike), but the BOINC Manager "attach to a new project" button requires me to enter an "account key" You can have the account key sent to the email address you signed up with from this page http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/get_passwd.php It also sounds like you have an older client. The current client only requires an email address and a password to sign up to a project that you already have a account at. You can download the latest client from here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php Hope this helps Michael |

You can download the latest client from here No, it depends on the method how the user try to attach to the project. For a attachment with the commandline client you need the account key. There is also a other method to lookup the account key : - start the boinc client - open a new terminal an type "boinc_cmd --lookup_account http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome $EMAIL_ADDRESS $YOUR_PASSWORD" - this would print out the account key. - Now attach : - stop the boinc client and issue "./boinc_client -attach_project http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome $ACCOUNTKEY" or - Don't stop the BOINC client and issue "./boinc_cmd --project_attach http://lchathome.cern.ch/lhcahtome $ACCOUNT_KEY" |
