I recall the Jedi version of this pic http://gizmodo.com/359532/scientists-looking-for-the-force-finally-put-cerns-large-hadron-collider-to-good-use .. note the double ended light saber. I'm not the LHC Alex. Just a number cruncher like everyone else here. |

Twice as impressive in the "flesh" walking along a small corridor to open a regular sized door and be brought face to face with an 8 storey high particle detector in a massive underground cavern is mental. That pic is now almost 3 years old, that area the guy is standing in has been filled in and closed off. It looked like this last summer There are some webcams of ATLAS here and CMS here CERN also have a massive library of images here of various things. |

Sorry Neasan, all the links there are Intranet rather than Internet so I, for one, can't access them. I've probably seen them from the CERN site so I'll link to the CERN front page and a couple of candidate pictures here, here and the milestones timeline (for which you need Flash), and the static version for those without Flash. October 2007 has a great pic of a side view of the 25m diameter ATLAS with some very small-looking people at the bottom. Can't find the individual link to that pic. Hope that's of help. ![]() |

Fixed the links I use too many message boards with too many ways of formatting links. |
