I have just made a dual install with Windows Vista and XP. My SETI account transfered fine to the Vista when I installed BoinC. How do I get LHC@Home to work with the "new computer"? |

Copy over your account_lhcathome.cern.ch.xml file from your BOINC directory under XP to your BOINC directory under Vista . That's the easiest way. Jord BOINC FAQ Service |

Is that the only way? I have been using BOINC on my desktop for a couple months now and decided to add it to my laptop as that rarely gets used so may as well donate processing power. I set it up on other computer both vLHC and LHC. That was this morning, no tasks were being sent at the time. However tasks have been sent tonight, already my desktop pushing through them, and yet not one downloaded on the laptop. Desktop win8.1 laptop win10. Should have checked the date of original pub before bumping a dead post |

Welcome,Derek. Looks like it's working for you now. You may have already noticed that work here is intermittent so there may just have not been any tasks available when you attached the laptop. I think the original post was to fix a particular problem. Generally you would just download Boinc to the new host then attach it to your chosen projects using the same e-mail and password to add it to your account. I don't see you over at vLHC. Have you used the same user name there? It's not quite so simple there as you need to install Virtual Box as well as Boinc. Any problems getting set up just look through the boards or ask for assistance. We're always happy to help. |
