this is exactly what I feel - it's not really fair to have them in the same stats page as the @home crunchers.
However, this problem exists with other BOINC projects as well, for example GPUGRID - some users in the top ranks are pools with nearly 300 computers ea. :-(((

Yeah Erich it just seems like that would be the best way to keep members here and getting newer ones especially lately where we see people with a single CPU with more cores than 10 computers would have here just a few years ago.

Especially since it pay for most people here is just *Credits* and that is why we even have all the stats here and all the different projects with all the different detectors on the LHC

It has always been a "credit" contest for most people doing this since way back before Boinc with seti classic.
And with the projects that use GPU's the new video cards are a big change from the early GeForce cards I remember over at Einstein (and other GPU projects)........I never was one to try to get credits at every project Boinc has but some people like doing that and some like to just test new CPU's and GPU's and OS's and even MB's and cooling systems and PSU's.

Of course they may be just video game players and don't really care about or understand particle physics and particle accelerators and the Standard Model or just might be interested and these days if you want to you can study pretty much any subject.
We have always had lots of SixTrack members here and most are still here and now we have new people that would like to try the VB versions and of course the ones that have been doing those since we first started over 7 years ago.

I have never played a video game or used a computer to watch movies or the many.......as I consider silly things on websites that basically were made to hook people so the company owner can see how many billions they can make before they are 35 years old (hint of the day)

And with all the different projects we have here the more computers the better.......even if Cern has those thousands of computers.
We have the same thing on the alpha and beta testing of these LHC tasks and when I first saw that I wondered why they would even have them on a stats page with actual humans at home on machines they paid for run by electricity they paid for......but it isn't the same as the public sites so I actually didn't expect to see that here.

Maybe they will think about it .....or maybe not.
But I know eventually the old timers here will need new members and computers to replace them.......sort of like the scientists at Cern.

Thats about all I have to add to the topic and before I start adding any 52 thread Xenons to mine I will have to run mine at full blast until they finally give up........and for some reason mine seem like they may never stop running

I am running Einstein@home tasks, both CPU and GPU, on a Windows 10 PC, SETI@home, also both, on a 2008 vintage SUN WS with SuSE Leap 42.3 Linux, and LHC@home, only Atlas and SixTrack, on a Linux laptop. I am also running SourceFinder duchamp tasks on it, since that requires VB. I am not a credit fan, but Einstein rewards me far more generously than all other projects. All other LHC taskx except the two I mentioned fail on the Windows 10 PC. Also two core Atlas tasks on the PC complete and are validate but they write to no HITS file. I have been running Test4Theory tasks on the SUN since November 2010, but my today's contribution to LHC@home is very meager , not through my fault.

I forgot to mention climateprediction.net tasks. The site is apparently dead since Easter. I have 4 tasks ready to report, each has taken more than 300 hours. They were run both on the Windows 10 PC and the Linux SUN.

On my SUN Linux box Atlas tasks and SixTrack run together, On the HP Laptop with Linux they alternate. They both have the same RAM, 8 GB. The SUN has an Opteron 1210 CPU, the laptop an E-450, both AMD.

The credit rewards are exactly like the dopamine rewarding 'like' buttons on social media posts and BOINCers are hooked on those rewards.

Instead of getting actual currency, they get paid in dopamine and epeen.

Gaming or BOINCing, both are dopamine based addictions.

I see Opterons are still used. My 1210 could be the oldest CPU to run Atlas tasks. But where is my new Ryzen 5 1400? It crunches well Atlas tasks but not Theory tasks, for reasons unknown.

This one is the longest running VB computer (8 years in March)

My SUN AM20 workstation has been running 24/7 since January 2008, always on SuSE Linux in various versions. I have only upgraded the hard disk from 160 GB to 1 TB, substituted the 4 DDR2 2 GB RAM modules and added a GTX 750 Ti graphic board. Its CPU is an Opteron 1210 at 1.8 GHz.It is now running GPUGRID tasks, both on CPU and GPU. But it also runs one core Atlas tasks, Einstein and SETI tasks.

I'm talking about computers running VB tasks and we didn't even have them running Valids until we did that on March 1st 2011

That same computer was running Einstein tasks and here running Sixtracks before we had T4T and as you can see just this one pc has more Credits here than all of yours combined. ( 2,475,711 ) getting Valids 24/7 from start to the very last day before they moved here. (always with the old X32 XP Pro)

It also has a twin pc that has been running just as long but I updated it to Win 7 and then Win 10 so it doesn't have the same date listed but it was here running Sixtrack in 2009 and then also running VB at T4T since 2011 and now it is used for LHC-dev and also at Einstein with a GeForce 560Ti OC (they are both AMD Phenom II X3 720 )


Those 2 have 53,827,893 and 60,992,923 Credits each at Einstein.

(I just checked my first quad core from 2009 and it has over 80 million Credits at Einstein now with the 660Ti SC that also runs a 2-core Theory tasks here at the same time) and it was one of my T4T pc's too.

Note what year that was.........and as I said there were no Valid tasks working until March 2011 when another member and myself got them to work and you also forgot that I was the one that helped you even get any tasks Valid yet you really didn't do very much there and all the Credits you have here include the Credits from T4T/vLHC

As I said I am the only member that was getting Valid wu's from day one until the very last day since I was the only one over there the final 2 months and the Top 6 computers on the stats page were mine.

Ben invited members HERE to join that project in the last couple months of 2010 BUT no tasks were being even tested in Alpha until January 2011 and NO Valids happened until March 2011 and then we started the CMS-dev that was changed to LHC-dev for beta testing and you are welcome to check the stats page there too.

I was there at what we started calling T4T and remember when you also joined but you didn't get much work done there and not much here either but you do prefer Seti and I quit doing those after Seti Classic ended.

And of course I also know when you started at Einstein and how much you have done and also when I was helping you with that new GPU card and showing you how to make Windows 8 and 8.1 work when you first got that computer.

I gave you the link to prove it and I was the one you talked about that was helping new members figure out how to d/l Oracle VB and we did not have ANY tasks to run until January 2011 and they did not work until the first week of March 2011

You usually only had Invalid results there the entire time and it was me that you were always getting help from on the original message boards and pm's.
