It's been raining almost constantly in the San Francisco Bay Area.... FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS!

Goodness, it's so nice to have some rain from LHC.

Cheers, everyone!!

<drool> Oh man....I can't remember ever getting so many WUs from LHC!

It only rained here for a week (central coast), finally letting up. Just spotty showers this week.

One of my machines got so many WUs, I don't even want to say it... I'm afraid of getting bashed.

Long? How does 16 out of the past 18 hours sound? It's not 3 weeks, but it's a start!

Over 74000 WUs in progress..
WUs ready to crunch: 8300 and rising...
This is awesome.

Over 14000 Wu ready to send now (rising.) The LHC user network is beginning to saturate at 78000 WUs in progress. Fun, fun!!

If the project really does want tasks returned and validated as fast as possible, it's time to increase or remove the daily limit of 10/thread.

The Admins will probably give the "sleepy" users about 24 hours to get some WUs. This seems right; the dedicated users out there who don't have screaming computers deserve to participate, if only a little.

There have been WUs available off and on for several days now. The usual trickle method used. And now suddenly they are adding thousands at a time. Very different from the trickle they have been using. It's clear something has changed today. It points to a need for more crunching needed. So let's go!

True, but many slower machines that are running other projects probably didn't get ANY work from LHC the past several days. Only now can these users finally get to "play along" with the power users. I say, give 'em 6 to 8 more hours to score a WU or two, then open the floodgates.

We are all getting some thing :)I say let the flood gates remain. How ever i do wish that we could get the quota of ten in one go. Its a nuisance connecting and disconnecting from the net.

The official Saturation Threshold for the Global LHC user base = 83000 WUs in progress

Now we know.

83k is the saturation only as long as they stay with the 10 per day limit.

Remove the limit and let the power users add a few thousands to the saturation point...

It doesn't matter.
The party is over for now.

LHC has been providing a fair amount of work the last month or two...

Some of us remember the months where nothing was going on!

I thought the latest experiment all went fine; my main dual core machine got about 8 wus on the best day. Even my old win98 tub had about 5 queued up at one point; I paused everything else and cleared them through within a day and a bit.

It will have proved important to encourage the widest participation if & when the project expands in the future on a larger scale.

These are the are the longest wu's I can remember.
Even my fastest dual core want 4.5hrs for a wu.
The longest I remember even on my AMD x2 4400 (socket 939) were under 3 hours.
These are substantial, and I personally like it.

LHC is just my favourite project.
The work they are doing there....the possibilities of what they might discover.

The hope that they create a small black hole and George (the village idiot) Bush falls in and it is captured live for the world to see....Oops....did I say that out loud.
Just think...if would have used the trillions wasted destroying Iraq to support LHC, Einstein, Folding....ESPA.... NASA....the ELT in Chile.....etc etc.
I dont mean to drag american foreign policy and politics into such a wonderful human endeavor such as LHC. (steps down from soapbox)

Cheers to everyone....keep the crunch on!
