Just out of interest is anyone on here a teacher? I'm considering doing some work with schools and thought some contact with some Physics interested teachers could be useful(assuming you're interested in the LHC's science not just crunching something). |

I'm an ESL teacher in South Korea. Part of what I do is teach science, but my students are quite young (preschool and elementary school). I'd be happy to give feed back about curriculum ideas and the such. I was a science major in college and I'm trained as a developmental psychologist with an interest in cognitive development. My work email is kathryn dot littlecampus at gmail dot com. Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System More BOINC information than you can shake a stick of RAM at. |

Maths / Science teacher in Australia here. I don't actually teach Physics but I'm interested in the science behind LHC (plus I might be able to work some stuff into the physics program). You can email me at: tyarh1<at>eq.edu.au Regards Tim |

Arrgh. I had a long detailed post typed up, but when I clicked "Post reply" I had to log in and lost it. Oh well, here's a summary. I'm a high school science teacher (physics, chemistry, earth science, etc.) and am planning a BOINC science project for my physics class second semester. I've assigned projects and reports for several years, but this will be the first time I've had a BOINC project. I typically offer half a dozen or so projects second semester after state testing and allow the students to pick two or three projects. My reason for doing a BOINC project is not simply to have students do crunching, but to get them interested in the science behind the projects and feel involved in the process. It'll be great if they continue to run projects they are interested in, but my goal is to create life long learners and possibly even future physicists. I plan to have them write a report on the projects focusing on the science of the specific projects, but also covering distributive computing in general. I'm very interesting the LHC and particle physics. Unfortunately I only had time at the beginning of the school year for a brief introduction to particle physics for my students because of state standards, but after the state testing I plan to go into more detail. |

I'd definitely be interested. I teach physics in the UK and I recently told my A level students they should look at LHC@home as they are extremely excited about the LHC itself. I crunch therefore I am. |

Bump. Not sure what happened with this..but QMW University are hosting a workshop on LHC for schools which I am taking some of my students on. Is this something you are organising or is it run by different members of LHC? I crunch therefore I am. |

Well we had a fun day! ..and it was nice to meet you Neasan. I hope the LHC physicists will recover from our visit soon. I crunch therefore I am. |
