I wouldn't be so eager to install this... I ran into a problem! I have a single-user installation and installed over top of 5.8.16 after I had completed a task and had shut down the manager. After the installation, it said that the configuration was bad. I had not made a backup, so the only thing I could do is to try to install 5.8.16 again. The first install of 5.8.16 ended up telling me that there was an internal application error. The "repair" that was done when running the 5.8.16 install again has it to where I am now back in business... These kinds of things are what made me stay away from 5.10.x in the first place... |

BOINC 5.10.28 is available. Please, update. I'm not a fan of the scheduling "bug" they "fixed" with 5.10.14+. I'll be saying with 5.10.13 for my windows machines, and 5.10.10 for my Macs. Dublin, California Team: SETI.USA |

BOINC 5.10.28 is available. Please, update. 5.10.28 is working a treat and has worked a treat since day one for me. Just remember to ensure BOINC is completely shutdown before installing. When upgrading from a very old BOINC version, you may just need to uninstall BOINC first. The uninstall and install process does not remove directories or blow any work away. Live long and BOINC! I've got 3 windows machines all running 5.10.20 and not a problem yet. The only thing is you have to completely shut your old manager down before installing it no matter what version your upgrading from. I think I'll stick with what I've got. I din't do that on my VISTA PC and it came back all happy. |

Didn't have any trouble at all downloading, didn't have to shut my manager down or anything and didn't notice any difference between 5.10.20 and 5.10.28 until the BOINC logo came up on the screen saver.... its huge! other that, it works great. BOINC 5.10.28 is available. Please, update. If people do what you suggest and end up with a non-working system, will you take responsibility for this? Your advice is un-qualified. Do not upgrade to 5.10.x if you run NT4. Link. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

This might help answer what was "fixed" (start towards the bottom): http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1668 |

BOINC 5.10.28 is available. Please, update. Would that be this change? - client: allow up to a day (rather than work_buf_min()) to elapsed between completing a result and reporting it. I wasn't a fan of it either, but apparently the project server take a bigger hit when people return results one at a time, which is what the old reporting policy caused. I can see why they would try to cut down on such things. |

If people do what you suggest and end up with a non-working system, will you take responsibility for this? Your advice is un-qualified. LOL. Of course not, because the user itself is responsible to every bit transfer that happens in his/hers computer. Do not upgrade to 5.10.x if you run NT4. Then, why do not you make a bug report? mars2019.org Manned mission to Mars in 2019 Petition |

Then, why do not you make a bug report? There's no use in putting a ticket into Trac. It'll get closed as won't fix. The 5.10.x and newer (when it comes out) won't run on NT4 because of the version of Visual Studio Rom is using. We are dropping support for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 in the 5.10 release and future releases. ..... Kathryn, I'm not sure it helps the general user to refer to a specialist, opt-in-only mailing list which even interested users may not read (I don't), but you could refer to the all-versions BOINC download page, where it is clearly stated: Windows |

because the user itself is responsible to every bit transfer that happens in his/hers computer True, but how many can either be bothered to check, or have sufficient knowledge to be able to make a decision? They see advice and follow it. A flat, un-qualified recomendation to upgrade is foolhardy. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Would that be this change? I have a high speed quad core machine that I connect to the internet maybe twice a week (until I get a wireless network setup at least) so I usually upload and download a lot of work durnig those times. As I'm running 5.10.20 is that going to effect me? |

As I'm running 5.10.20 is that going to effect me? No, it won't. It only matters for micromanagers, stat-freaks, etc. who want to report work immediately. BOINC will still get work as usual, and when doing so, it will report any completed work back. |
