To Admin Staff, Please check out user "cars" (easy to find in Profiles). He/she/it has created 15 profiles, so I assume 15 accounts as well and the included links are all about buying and selling cars. Nothing to do with this project. No credit (not a real problem as often no work) but also no computers are recorded either. Every one is a different country but all have the same links and information (or lack thereof) in them. I have seen recently posts in the Boinc Mailing list about a Spam hit on Boinc projects, so this maybe the same thing. If this is SPAM, then please remove. |

I have seen hundreds of accounts with username 'cars' on other projects; it's definitely spam. |

To Admin Staff, Please check out user "cars" (easy to find in Profiles). Sadly there are still 24 instances of 'cars' after the cleanup. No profiles though. Al. |

If the project was notified in November 2007 (by myself) and maybe before that, I am wondering why it has taken so long for something to be done, and why it needed the whole project to be closed. Perhaps the site was being hit by a more recent SPAM attack ?? and this bought the site down therefore not being able to notify the users. If this is the reply to my original posting then it took awhile to have an effect even if I still have not received an answer from the actual project, I am glad the spam is now gone or at least lessened. Well at least things are back to normal again, whatever normal is. |

As with the upgrade this was out of my hands. I did note your post and told the relevant people at the time but in the end it took a threat from CERN to get anything done. Make of that what you will. I apologise but some of the stuff that needs to be done is a little outside my expertise (I know very little MYSQL etc) and while I'd generally jump in two feet first and mess around this usually breaks something and as a rule effects no one but this project is a little bigger. |

As with the upgrade this was out of my hands. It seems to me that those in charge of LHC aren't giving you and Alex the support you need and deserve to administer a 30TFlop supercomputer (speed guesstimated from E@H speed and comparative number of crunchers on that project). The latest outage has also made me feel that they don't value their "free" supercomputer highly enough. Therefore, although I'm staying active on LHC, I'm cutting back my resource allocation (the difference is going to the Muon detector design project now running on BOINC via the yoyo@home project). If you can convince those in charge to start taking LHC more seriously, I'll bump the resource allocation back up again. In the meantime, all the best. |

Reading tea leaves (again) if there were issues with the database ... well, almost all databases, including my favorite Oracle, maintenance tasks either have to be done with the database in a quiescent state, or are much easier when in said state. That mean no updates... Also, if the queries are long running because of the complexity, the less action, the faster the end-result. The problem is that we can still be talking days to do the repairs, as we saw. MySQL is also relatively "young" (I had Oracle 5 on a DOS based machine) and does not have as many "bells-and-whistles" as other DB ... Now, if it would only let me report my last 8 completed tasks ... :) |

It may involve you needing to clone yourself, but reconsider re-opening the alpha site where you can mess around and maybe get helpful advice from those participants willing to jump in two feet first with you. |
