so we all want to donate cpu time to science. being a donator does not give you a right to wu's. helping science should be fast. it should not be slowed down by donators who are demanding wu's. donate as much as you can. |

maybe in the future there will be some more 1 million turn WU´s, that would increase the amount of work by a factor of ten, because now the WU is just a 100.000 turn one |

Well I, for one, do in fact spread my machine(s) across several projects. Granted you cannot 'gunny-sack' the work and return it at your leisure, but more of the crunching public can accomplish some work, and feel like they too are a part of this project. Will "the-powers-that-be" change the setpoint in the future - only they can answer that, but since even my antiquated PIII machines complete their daily share of work from LHC in a little more than 5 hours, a little looosening of the reins wouldn't hurt. Of course, that's not taking into account that the next software revision might just take longer to calculate the results (depending on what is being calculated). A misquote from the movie 'Grease' comes to mind: ..."enjoy the ride, or step to the side" If I've lived this long, I've gotta be that old |

I like the 2 per CPU per day rate. It gives all of my systems a chance to help out. At the rate we are eating WUs we will have them all done by Monday or Tuesday at which time we will be at "how come I can't get ANY WU's from the project stage." The 2 per cpu per day gives us that have more then one system a little credit for haveing more then one system, but allows more people access to the WUs. I think what might happen in the future is 2 WU per user however ]:8( |

I can live with 2/day/CPU. But that is not what I am being sent. I run off-line. Meaning that I when I connect, I should fetch enough work to keep my system busy until the next connect_occasion. When I connected today, LHC sent me one workunit, and told me I would have to wait one hour before asking for more LHC work. Well, in one hour I will *not* be connected. [My next connection might not be until tomorrow.] LHC appears to have a fetch_backoff policy as well as a work_limit policy. I have a multi-core computer. Was it the intent of the LHC project that the effect of me doing only an occasional connect resulted in just one LHC workunit being sent to my computer today ? . |

The quota seems to be increased from 2 to 4 now. |

The quota seems to be increased from 2 to 4 now. Not exactly. My single core machine is getting "reached daily quota of 4 results", but my 8-core machine is getting "reached daily quota of 16 results". So maybe it is 4/core, with a max of 16? Dublin, California Team: SETI.USA |

The quota seems to be increased from 2 to 4 now. Indeed seems it increased to 4 per core! BTW zombie67: quota is multiplied with the CPU count with a limit of 4 CPUs. |

Hehe, this is first time ever people fighting for work that is not paid :-)) Is this the first time you come into a BOINC project forum? :P |

Actually, I meant 5 per cpu per day... ;) But since I'm not in charge, I'll be happy with whatever the admins decide is best for the project. BOINC Synergy! My NEW BOINC-Site! |

But since I'm not in charge, I'll be happy with whatever the admins decide is best for the project. With the project at this moment being out of work and the only thing you can possibly get is resends, it doesn't really matter, I think. ;-) Jord BOINC FAQ Service |
