i'm one of those who are constant online. With multiple machines even. But i didn't get any.
But i don't mind. There are plenty of projects to crunche so there is no chance one of my cpu's will cool down

I am also curious why I didn't get any work. I have LHC set to 50% of my computing power (the other 4 projects I run share the rest) and am online + up more than 98% of the time. Is there something I should do to increase my odds of getting work?

Please note this is not a complaint, just a question on if there is some way for me to boost my odds of getting work.

The why is simple.
The second sticky is called 'Please note: this project rarely has work'
That says enough.
The last run was a testrun after a servermigration and was very small.

You just have to wait. like we all do now for .. oh ... say 9 months or so.
And the question is if there will ever be a steady stream of wu's. Answer is probably NOT.

So join some other projects and open a bottle of champaigne when you do get a few lhc wu's.

Maybe someone should figure out how to better allocate work units.

Why should someone with the computing horsepower be able to capture all the available work units just because they are constantly online with their systems?

We are looking into this.

The thing is it is not just being online all the time (I'm on 24/7 and only got one WU to crunch on the last run). Some people who use BOINC change their settings/tweak what information they submit to hog the WUs, this could be seen as cheating or as creativity, depends on your viewpoint.

I personally would prefer to see each user get one WU per host per run and if there is work left to have it shared out the same way.

This is not just an LHC@home issue, it is more apparent here because of our limited WUs though.

same here, 19909 wu's available, 5 clients requesting work but still "no work from project".

with only 25 wu's out in the field there must be something very wrong on the server.

Yes, very curious indeed. During the last batch of work I checked regularly the server status page. I don't mean the small window on the main page, but this one. There had been still 3 WUs ready up to yesterday I think. The Status of the up/donwload server and scheduler had always (when I checked) been "disabled". So, is there something on the page(the link to server?), or some script or anything else not working probably? I have myself no idea about programming or even building a website, so can't do anything else than posting this here. Since the work slowly disappeared, sometimes it must have been running. Had been curious about this a while now.

Greetings, Christoph

Server Status
Up, 19894 workunits to crunch
35 workunits in progress
10 concurrent connections

And yet none of my clients are receiving WUs. =(

etc....

Is there anything that can be done client-side, or is it all at the server?

Exactly the same message/problem I have. When we all have it, it must be a LHC problem.

The upload and download servers and the scheduler are still disabled. Until the servers are not enabled by the staff, there will not WUs for download !
Please at the server status here : http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php

Please be patient.
