Message 17323 - Posted: 11 Jul 2007, 14:16:41 UTC

According to the front page there are over 1000 units up for grabs but none of my computers can get any. When they poll the server they get told there is no work available. Am I just seeing a lag between the server status box and the actual number of available work units or is this something on my end?

We are looking into it having just noticed that ourselves and looking around it is something that has happened recently, should be back up and running very soon.

Jaysus, we barely get it fixed and the work disappears.

Off hand I would say it's some kind of internal test of their servers, ect.
I don't think any of those will get out to the public, but I'd like to hear from anyone who got any!:0)

As long as the upload/download server status is "disabled" I guess nobody is getting anything. Question is, the WUs in progress, can they be uploaded in this case?

Good luck, Christoph

Of course they did - I got about 30 of them spread over just two boxes. This is an example of the full quorum for one of them. As you can see, it was over in a flash. Yes there were some longer running ones but the whole 30 of mine were crunched and returned in less than a day. I didn't even know about it until I saw the reference to the small number "in progress" on the front page :).

Cheers,
Gary.

What did you expect with such a small number released? :).

Cheers,
Gary.

All these went to the public besides the single one I crunched. As I have siad the server is live were just waiting on jobs to be submitted by the scientists, sometimes they tell us sometimes they don't. My one took about 25 minutes to do.

According the server status page there are 116 WUs available. But still the server status for the scheduler and upload/download server states "disabled". Is this intentional or something wrong?

Best regards, Christoph

It is now saying 'work is low' with about '105 workunits in progress' so everything must be back to normal?

Cheers

I don get new WU, I'm using Windows Vista with Boinc 5.8.16 do I have to downgrade to Boinc 4.67? Boinc now says all the time 'no work from project'.

there is currently no new work. the units that were sent out were test units. so with a bit of tongue in cheek, its pretty much SNAFU.

Maybe someone should figure out how to better allocate work units.

Why should someone with the computing horsepower be able to capture all the available work units just because they are constantly online with their systems?
