Another Web appearance issue taht is affecting usability is the editing box for profiles does not display the whole previously entered profile when you attempt to pull it up of editing.

Yet another thing that has probably been fixed ages ago.

Upgrade the damned server code already!

the width thing -

I have weak eyes, so I have changed __all__ my desktop font specifications to a larger font size than the default. I'm using FF, and on my system's 'Results for user' page the columns being shown are too narrow for their contents -- the column headings have words that extend into the next column, while some of the column data texts (e.g., the time) are truncated on the right.

If I stretch my browser window to the maximum that my screen allows, the column widths on the 'Results for user' page stay "fixed" (i.e., they do not increase).

Hmm OK thought I was done with the width crap, I'll see what I can do for this. Is that the only page giving you problems?

Fixed, moved the box.

OK herein lies the rub I have now made width = auto which is, of course, what I've always wanted to do but if you look here:
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/user_profile/profile_country_Switzerland_1.html
You will see why I haven't(only an issue in FF as far as I can see). If there is an element contained within a table which has no breaks then FF can't do word wrap and so you get that ugly POS.
I will however leave width at auto.

curiouser and curiouser

(1) With the change to 'auto', all the webpages regarding my account (including "Results for user") look good in my FF. [No more overlapping or truncated text.]

(2) The Switzerland page you referenced -- pages 2, 3, and 4 of that set always look good in my FF. It is only page 1 of that set that looks ugly. [And the very first time I looked at that page 1, it *also* looked good. But when I returned to page 1, it now looks ugly (no matter what I try).]

Thanks for making this change to auto.

Neasan...

On the Profile edit box it still does not open in the same format as the edit box used here in the message board. It is opening as a square and the right side of the profile to be edited is hidden.

Thanks

It looked good as it was using the old CSS (width=700, overflow=hidden) and when you looked again it reloaded the CSS and width=auto looks cack.

I have emailed the user to see can he just put spaces in between the img tags

Sorry only fixed the avatar box will try and get this sorted tomorrow

It's impossible to select and copy parts of a page of my choice. When I try to select a line of text, e.g. on the results page, everything from the start of the page up to the current position is selected.
Work unit names do not fit in the table with a screen size narrower than 1280 pixels.
When I shift+click on the logo at the top of the page, the home page isn't opened in a new window but in the current one.

I can validate that IE7 has the same 1280 res issue. The table doesn't resize properly. Works fine in Firefox. From my brief dabbling with an XHTML/PHP class, I know that incompatibilities abound between the two of them...

So..what's so wrong with the default BOINC format? It works. It's familiar. We all know where everything is and how to work it.

There is no search box for the message boards. There is one for Questions & Answers.
They come in handy when trying to find related messages before starting a new thread.
