FWIW -- I don't think this is a "new" issue, it seems like this condition has existed for some time. Short of you "detaching" your computer from the project, then re-attaching with your friend's account, I'm not sure there's a way to do what you desire ...

All my friend wants to do is log into his LHC account using my browser (to, for instance, post to the message boards.) The post by Ananas makes this correct assumption and also makes some good points. Incidentally, I've recently discovered that this is not a problem when using Mozilla Firefox.

As for the forum prefs problem, here is the error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function gd_info() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/image.inc on line 7

I don't suppose anyone has ideas about the need to login everytime? I still have to enter my email and password eaach time I power up my PC but this is the only Project I have to do that for - I didn't need to do it before the redesign.

I'm also haveing this problem since I had to reinstall windows.....xpsp2 IE7 on a p4 266G BTW my box stays on 24/7 so its not a matter of logging out of IE7,just LHC. Its not a big thing just really annoying!

There is a problem with the cookies, LHC doesn't set any auth cookies anymore - it is _not_ a browser bug.

Those who still have a valid cookie from the old web site cannot logout, those who do not have an auth cookie cannot make their login persistent.

For Netscape//Mozilla/Firefox/Seemonkey ... the cookie can be created by editing / adding it to cookies.txt

I don't think that there's such an easy way to add it to IE in the same way.

Changeset #13066 might fix the cookie problem.

Still a bug with images:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function imageCreateFromJPEG() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/profile.inc on line 320

So what is up with imageCreateFromJPEG()?

I think this was not mentioned before: The wide menu and the positioning and padding of the content is causing horizontal scroll bars with 1024x768 resolution. That's impractical at least for the account pages.
Other BOINC projects are not displaying the menu on those pages, just like it's here in the forum.
Does the menu have to be on every page? There's always the 'Return to LHC@home main page' link at the bottom.
(Personally I like the way Seti@home does it, display just a very small menu at the top of the page.)

OK Login problem fixed we hope, was a silly problem and it is now fixed.

Also you should be able to subscribe to threads, get your account key sent to you or anything else that sends an email.

With the width thing this has been mentioned once or twice and I fixed it a while ago and cannot see any scroll bars in IE, FF, Safari, Opera, Camino on Mac and Win at any resolution, please do a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) to make sure you have the newest version of the CSS

I still see scroll bars.
Will send you a screen shot via HTML email.

Is there any "last updated info" to send you to help you debug it?

OK it's done I think, it was a problem with FF and word wrapping (i.e. it doesn't do that)

I don't think it's about word wrap. The fix design is just too wide for 1024px.
Most of the previous references to scroll bars were about the Forum, not the main and account pages. The server status page also has the scroll bar, even there's no content left off the screen.
(checked with Mozilla1.7.13 Win/Linux and IE)

I see you have reduced the width of the content to 700px. This removed the horizontal scroll bar.
But I think you should try width:auto before those users with bigger screens complain about the wasted empty space on the right ;-)

I get a lot of wasted space on the right side of the screen - but my monitor is set to 1600x1200.

Even so, the output in the 'My Results' page (and various other pages) does look a bit blocky as IE7 is trying to squeeze the information into a smaller space.

Aaargh! I still can't get my avatar image to work in Message Board Preferences!

I keep getting the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function gd_info() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/image.inc on line 7

This is giving me a rash; please help!

Message 17819 - Posted: 11 Sep 2007, 16:13:46 UTC - in response to Message 17211.

Got one here, trying to create a profile with a pic (Win XP Home SP2):

Fatal error: Call to undefined function imageCreateFromJPEG() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/profile.inc on line 322

edit: tried to update my profile and add a pic, same result.
Also escape characters were added before the single quotes in my profile, each edit I have to remove them. Not really an error (I'm old enough to understand the need for escape chars) but something to be aware of.

Hello Alex & Neasan wondering if this has been fixed or looked at yet, appears to be still broken.
Thanks.

Another Web appearance issue taht is affecting usability is the editing box for profiles does not display the whole previously entered profile when you attempt to pull it up of editing.

Thanks
