I think I had to re-login when the URL switched from http://lhcathome.cern.ch/ to http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/ but thats it - now I stay logged in just fine. Using Opera as well. Do you maybe have the wrong URL bookmarked? (without the /lhcathome/ at the end maybe?)

Edit: on second thought I don't think that is the case as I get a 403 error when I try to go to http://lhcathome.cern.ch/home.php - I thought it was redirecting and the browser may be doing something weird with the cookies... but I guess not. I got nothin'

Sorry about this one, my fault I've been playing around and uploaded the wrong file to the wrong place, fixed now.

The link 'Return to LHC@home main page' here: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/stats.php

goes to http://lhcathometest.cern.ch/lhcathometest/. Not that there's any reason to use the link, but meh...;)

Ugh I just checked they were all broken, it is fixed now. It was because how the system finds the base/master URL is strange and I forgot to change some values when we moved the test system design to the live system

Pehaps an enhancement compliment your nice new look. Could you add an easily accessable link maybe on the main page to your full Server and Database Status page.

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php

Thanks
Bill

Why do all threads have a horizontal scroll bar? It should wrap to my screen no matter what size i use. That is a Web standard. I won't read these pages if I have to scroll sideways on every line.

Have a chat with IE, it is problems with how it looks at width that has caused me to use a particular method. I have however I think I have a fix which will go live soon.

Thank you. I've looked this was bust before the redesign but I'm working on it now.

Only one little thing:

On the Result page the incomplete results Deadlines have a bright Green as a font color who is to be read with the gray background very heavily.

Browser with this behavior: IE7, Safari for Windows beta

With Firefox 2.0.0.5 for Windows are all the Deadlines black?

Who's right?

I don't suppose anyone has ideas about the need to login everytime? I still have to enter my email and password eaach time I power up my PC but this is the only Project I have to do that for - I didn't need to do it before the redesign.

I'm not having that problem; my account stays logged in even after re-starting the computer. However, I'm using ie7 on Win XP -- other configurations my react differently to the redesign.

And have a chat with BOINC too. IE's standards support are horrible but I haven't seen a single BOINC page that is valid HTML.

Oh come on. Is it so hard to make it an <img> with a link? That's what <a> is for. Requiring Javascript for basics like going back to homepage is a very bad idea...

What is seen with IE7 is called "quirk mode".It is backward compability with IE6 and older. In IE6 MS missunderstood CSS specification for width and wrongly computed size.In IE7 it has been corrected for "standard mode",but not for "quirk".

Since DOCTYPE is missing at the start of pages,IE7 assumes it should use quirk mode instead of standard.

Message 17486 - Posted: 21 Jul 2007, 12:52:25 UTC - in response to Message 17314.

I've got a very minor niggle. I have various 'My Account' pages from various Projects in my startup folder so I get the displayed automatically at logon. Usually about every fortnight, I need to reenter my email and password. However, on the new LHC@H site I need to do this every time despite the stay logged into this computer option being checked.

As I say, not that important but would be nice if I could stay logged in across sessions.

UPDATE: I can't get into My Account at all now. I'm being asked for my email/password but it's failing with a message that's too quick to read (the only downside to a broadband connection?).

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm staying logged on even over the weekend or any extended time period. What browser are you using?

Neasan - I'm using IE7 on XP Pro. I'm forced to login each time I access the 'Your Account' page at the moment. I can go anywhere within the site but if I close IE, then I need to login again.

I have the same problem. Everytime I want to check my account I have to log in again (the same thing happened as I wanted to write this message).

I am using IE7 on Vista Ultimate.

This problem does not appear on other projects (SETI, RALPH,...)

No it's not hard but when using CSS especially for images like the logo you're meant to use the background image function. The <img> tag is also actually being fazed out of future versions of XHTML(don't know why but it is). Also if you don't have javascript it just means you can't click on the logo to go back to the main page, it shouldn't break anything else.

Since DOCTYPE is missing at the start of pages,IE7 assumes it should use quirk mode instead of standard.

I know, sorry, this will change in the next day or two, as I've mentioned before the current design is a sledge hammer and walnut setup I have a better solution on the way which has full doctypes see answer to first question in this post.

I need to talk to Alex about the email part of the install seems ... buggy.

General login problems

Think I have this narrowed down and should be fixed, I'm finding it hard to replicate as I'm not having the problem but think it will be sorted soon
