This seems to be a problem for a few people that the old CSS is still being cached so you're not seeing the new design a refresh should fix it

Thanks, clearing the cache fixed it :)

Can't upload AVATAR.

Get this page:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function gd_info()in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/image.inc on line 7

I couple of minor questions.
1) Any reason why I get most of the pages half in German, half in English?
2) There seems to be a problem with screen width on most of the screens in both the website and the message boards (or Diskussionsforen as it calls it on my screen). I'm using IE7 under WXPSP2 and there always a few pixels missing to the right of the screen, meaning I have a horizontal scroll bar.
Thanks

OK I see the width thing is a problem this is due to the way IE handles width i.e. not very well I am looking a a solution.

The main page has a width set due to the Server Status box being floated so if I leave it at 100% it drags windows all over the shop.

OK the avatar upload is broken and has been for a while now and has been mentioned four times now.

The half German/half English thing has me stumped, did you set a language setting to German, I did nothing with the language settings.

Thanks for your response - the width thing is fairly cosmetic and I wouldn't be surprised if IE7 is the culprit.
The German thing is a problem I've had on a few sites (including microsoft.com, Skype). These appear to be sites which interpret my IP address as being located in Switzerland and decide that I have no choice but read the pages in German. Notwithstanding the fact that 35% of Switzerland is non-German speaking, I find it a bit arrogant to have websites dictate to me what language I should use (again not your fault!).
I'm using Windows XP in English, my IE is set-up to deliver pages in English. What's really curious about lcathome is the mixture - bits of a page are in German, other bits in English with no obvious rhyme or reason. For example the headings of this forum are in German (Autor / Nachricht). The Message to the left is in German (about formatting using BBCode-Tags), but the Rules are in English.
If you need screen dumps or source code dumps, please let me know.

I assume what it is, is that the site is all in German but we don't have German versions of the rules and other things you see in English I've never known sites to use IP to choose language before but then I've not exactly been online in many non-english speaking countries(I'm usually on holiday so email and the web are ignored) except Switzerland cause work keep sending me to CERN.

On the web page 'Country statisitcs',
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/country_stats.html
is a link 'Location of users on a world map can be seen here.' pointig to
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/user_map.png
-----------------------------------------------
This link doesn't work any more.
This is no urgent case but is worth to be reminded.

Ansonsten, gute Arbeit !

...I've never known sites to use IP to choose language before...

FYI... Google does. It took me forever to convince Google that I wanted Google.com, not Google.co.kr. It took me even longer to figure out how to get the entire Blogger site (run by Google) into English.

There are a few others that I've come across. Darn annoying, BTW. Just honor my browser settings...

FWIW, I'm an ESL teacher living in S. Korea.

Oh yeah I knew Google used IP to determine which regional Google you got never thought of making it choose language too, I can see giving you the local Google page but choosing a language based on IP is a little presumptuous IMO.

I've got a very minor niggle. I have various 'My Account' pages from various Projects in my startup folder so I get the displayed automatically at logon. Usually about every fortnight, I need to reenter my email and password. However, on the new LHC@H site I need to do this every time despite the stay logged into this computer option being checked.

As I say, not that important but would be nice if I could stay logged in across sessions.

Well I see the width thing is still an issue but it's getting better!! At least it's the same weather I load up with FF or IE! :D

UPDATE: I can't get into My Account at all now. I'm being asked for my email/password but it's failing with a message that's too quick to read (the only downside to a broadband connection?).

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm staying logged on even over the weekend or any extended time period. What browser are you using?

Neasan,

I am also having trouble staying logged on to my account using Opera 9.21. Also "Jump to first new post in thread automatically" doesn't appear to work any more.

OK will look in to logging in bug, seems strange The Jump to first new post in thread has been disabled I should have it back by the end of the week, think I know what it was screwing up which may also fix logging in bug I think.

Neasan - I'm using IE7 on XP Pro. I'm forced to login each time I access the 'Your Account' page at the moment. I can go anywhere within the site but if I close IE, then I need to login again.
