Got home today and found one of my systems crunching a lhc WU. It was the only one on that system.

I checked the website,ad according to that I has 20 additional WU's on that machine. Check the log, and I can osee that only one was actually sent!

Anybody else see a similar thing? The website thinks it sent many more than it actually did?

(the 20 "lost" WU's show as if they're cool, and just waiting for results..)

I did see several WU`s being downloaded, but somehow, they occured to be "ghosty" after all. One WU was in fact downloaded, done, and sent. As it is my first WU here, i`m really happy about it.

Btw... is there any way to force a gphx to appear even if other project is being active?

Nope. The screen saver gphx can only be seen when you are crunching an lhc work unit. This is frustrating for some because they have NEVER seen what the gphx look like... Even if a WU is downloaded, it is often completed and returned before the machine's user even knows what happened.

A pity, because lhc has a pretty cool screen saver!

Hah i managed to get a glimpse of LHC Ss:) its really neat.

Regarding my question, i found a half-way methode.
You can view gfx, if project isn`t active, but a WU must be downloaded.

Then, for example if you krunch more than one project, you can view the other one`s gfx, without switching the project you`re currently working on.

you need to use

boinccmd [host] --result [project url] [result filename] graphics_window (or graphics_fullscreen)

Then if i`m krunching E@H right now, i can in the same time check the S@H workunit status, showing currently the best gaussians, pulses and triplets.
So you can make a sshot of them and brag:)

I don't understand. Could you, or someone who does understand, restate this hack in smoother English or, at least, in non-Linux-yet-still-broken English?

Actually, it's window-ese :)

In XP open a terminal window (Start/Run cmd [enter])
cd c:\program files\BOINC
boinccmd [host] --result [project url] [result filename] graphics_window (or graphics_fullscreen)

where [host] is the name or ip of the host if not localhost
[project url] is lhcathome.cern.ch
[result filename] is the the filename of the result you want to view
graphics_window if you want graphics in a resizable window
graphics_fullscreen if you want fullscreen graphics ie. no window border, etc.
