Predictor@home is censoring massively at their boards and is restricting the freedom of opinion of their registered users in an inappropriate manner. After a discussion had started about the attitude of the project administration towards a big cheating issue in this thread. That thread was closed immediately to avoid any different opinion.

After that any new discussion thread and any question concerning "censorship" were "answered" with the immediate deletion of the postings/threads. Even accounts were fully blocked for posting (in my case until the year 2038!!).

I think it is not acceptable that the freedom of opinion is restricted in that way and I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this. Try for yourself and start asking about this all at the P@H message boards!

In between even account creation was disabled to prevent the "bad users" from posting further questions. After that didn't help meanwhile whole IP ranges are blocked from access to the complete Predictor homepage!

There's an ongoing discussion over at the BOINCstats forum, where also the beginning of this whole mess is to be found. See: Trojan boinc installation by rogue member

I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this.

After investigating the issue, I have found the accusations against P@H to be valid. I have disconnected from the project. Thanks to ThEfT for the post, and good luck on your quest; the cause you pursue is just.

As for me, I have spoken by taking my CPU cycles elsewhere.

For all who may not be aware...

To all interested in the current censoring issues at Predictor, an online petition has been created for user’s who do not agree with the censorship. The letter is available to read before signing and will be presented to staff at the Scripps Institute to express the feelings of the Boinc community who feel the censorship is wrong and should be addressed.

We need as much support as possible, thank you.

Link to online petition.

I agree. I am not a member, nor will I now be, but I would have withdrawn from the project alltogether.

I was a member of P@H, but after 331 days of donating cycles to the cause and finally finishing my W/U, my results were never credited and the BOINC message panel informed me that the W/U was corrupt. That was enough to just chuck the project and donate my cycles to projects which would actually work. I shall immediately go to the petition page and look it over. If I am allowed to do so, I shall sign it. Censorship of the kind described is intolerable. We're helping with science, not politics!

I agree! Why fight to be allowed back into a place that is so bad? Why constantly expose yourself to the attack when all you have to do is never return to the project and never have to worry about loss of credits or censorship on this level?

WOW ... impressed by the petition setup ... my sig now there. Surprised to only see 42 sig.s there - more than that many people have commented on single threads?! I agree with comments above and just stopped crunching for them.

My freedom, my choice, their loss.

..another thing..
Check out when the last person submitted anything on their boards - 26 days ago.
That says it all really - sweet F.A user participation.

The Floggings will continue until morale improves
