Hello,

I read in the forum that the only supported operating systems will be Windows and Linux, i read complains of users too.

But, on OS that are capable of running Linux software (through a compatibility layer for example) like FreeBSD, you can use the lhcathome client... Well in fact you'll have to compile the boinc client with the "--with-boinc-platform=i686-pc-linux-gnu" option added to your ./configure, this will override the boinc client OS detection and advertise a i686-pc-linux-gnu system which makes it possible to use almost all clients.

Just my 2 cents.

BOINC to-do list includes allowing BOINC client to send multiple platforms, for example, to get a Win64 app, and if there isn't one, a Win32 app. When that is implemented, it would be possible to send BSD platform name (which I don't know what it is) followed by i686-pc-linux-gnu.

This is also posible with MacOS with CrossOver Beta. This is a enhanced version of wine, which allows to let windows binaries runing on MacOS (Intel), too. I had really bad performance with wine, but with CrossOver the preformance is OK.
