Title says it all.
I know the new admins are busy, but it's almost two weeks without an update... And I can't wait for the changes and.... WU's!!

We need to give LHC time to finish the transfer to Queens, set everything up and clear the DB of Pending Credit (which is an ever present query) etc, so they can start afresh. The stats export will come later.

Better to wait and have everything running correctly, than rush in and have problems for months to come.

What has any of that got to do with putting a status update on the front page???

After all they did promise to try to keep us updated as to progress...

Cheers,
Gary.

You can of course ask for an update.

Doesn't mean you'll get one :-D

OK here it is:
We are working on moving the service to the servers at QMUL and .... well that is it, nothing has changed.

The WUs are still being submitted when the user has them we have not stopped them so if there is work to be done you will get it. WHEN we are in full control we hope to be able to attach more users to get more WUs for you but we would like to ensure that the migration goes well instead of stretching ourselves by doing a migration and trying to coordinate new users to submit WUs at the same time while we are still learning how to admin a BOINC service.

That is all I can say unless you what a blow by blow, minute by minute update of every file updated, piece of code written, tea breaks taken etc..

Neasan --

I for one appreciate your candor, and will be satisfied to wait patiently while you and your crew(s) get this beheamoth under total control. I await your needs ....

Tea breaks, who said you could take tea breaks ;)
Don't forget the crumpets.
Just kidding around.
But a snippet of news here and there lets us know you are still alive, thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update Neasan.

A quick note from time to time just to let us know you're still around is all most of us are looking for.

It's not a problem guys (and gals, I assume), I know it's frustrating to be not kept up to date on things but believe me we are working on this as hard as we can..... oh look time for a tea break (I'm thinking of moving to work for the council ;-P)

There are definitely gals here....

We are all very interested in what you're up to, and I wish we could all share the tea ;-)

All you have to do is set up a webcam in the room you're working in so we can keep an eye on you! And have another one on the screen so we can see what you're actually doing :) Then you don't have to worry about typing up something for updates, cuz that takes away your tea time ;)

But seriously, thanks for taking this project under your wing. It can't be easy pleasing 100,000+ (how many users are there anyway?) users

OK Neasan --

Curiousity forces me to ask: with milk or lemon? With sugar or honey? Oh yes, and what about the crumpets ???

Milk cancels out sugar. The former is good for your teeth, the latter rots it.

At any rate, the update is appreciated, Neasan.

Yup, it's all I wanted with my original question, a short update every one or two weeks.

And I prefer Earl Grey with one small sugarlump, please...

I prefer Arabic tea, it's the best in the world :-D
- With lots of sugar and milk, of course! And taken in a teahouse watching Arabic Dance (so you see, it's not at all about the tea...).

And to have an excuse for posting the spam above: Thanks for the front page update!

Well I for one don't care for the minute by minute, etc. etc. But the tea schedule might be of some use ;-)

I don't need tea information, nor minute by minute, nor bow by blow info.

HOWEVER

Getting an update every 3 days would be great, no matter how lame the text. For example:

"We're trying to figure out a problem with the WU database, but so far we're stumped."

..would be acceptable.

Understood, it is still moving along I may have more info later today (don't hold your breath though blue doesn't match your eyes ;-P)
