Yes! We were told there's life out there, and now it's proven! Allow me to also extend "Welcome Aboard" to our new Admins -- Neasan & Alex Owen -- If I've lived this long, I've gotta be that old |

And they speak proper English, like what I do ;), with esses not zeds in words like 'realise'. Lovely. Crap! Do they also use that strange and incorrect spelling of "color"? If so I'm not sure I can continue to support this project! :p - A member of The Knights Who Say NI! My BOINC stats site |

Oi I had to test how robust the system was with regards to "strange characters" e.g. <br /> </p> quotation marks etc.. and if I needed line breaks. :-D I still haven't worked out how to post links on there but once I'm in full control of the site it'll all be cleaned up. I didn't think anyone would notice me messing around, did you notice I also broke the page a few times testing certain things out and that the news piece was actually posted paragraph by paragraph ;-P Would anyone object to "No txt spk" being added to the box of rules on the left of page when you're posting a message? |

Would anyone object to "No txt spk" being added to the box of rules on the left of page when you're posting a message? I must agree. My opinion:I find it childish and annoying and it has no place in a scientific project forum. [edit]I would like to add that shorthand (e.g. BTW) if perfectly ok, IMHO[/edit] Don't get distracted by shiny objects. ![]() |

Lolz ok so i 2 finger bash... i know my networking and Linux, build PCs and help a lot of my team mates out with all of that so i think i can be forgiven for not learning to touch type. Actually most of the best Computer techs i know don't have a clue how to touch type but like me they 2 finger bash and do it at 40-50 wpm. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

For as long as the content is still identifyable (without going into decrypting), that's still fine with me. Plain reason being, is that I've seen worse than that... alot worse. People writing that way just should be aware however, that in writing to the public, a writer is always also presenting him/herself to the public with all consequences. The perception of that writer and the reactions will be accordingly. In extreme cases 'too lax' writers are easily put off as immature or plain incablable (unless they explain why they write the way they do). Personally - all typos aside - that's not how I would like to present myself to the public, but your mileage may vary on that ;) Bottom line : I (and others) have seen folks capable of many languages... HTML, Java, Perl, C++, Assembler, Fortran... But amazingly, at the same time unable to write their native language. And that's bad. Scientific Network : 45000 MHz - 77824 MB - 1970 GB ![]() |

I think that I know what you mean. But I have something else on my mind. I find B. English very pleasant to listen to (hence colourful), although it may seem very reserved and dry. Anyway I am sorry for off topic and SPAM. :-) |
