too many hosts listed

due to the lack of frequent work units, I have dozens of hosts listed for the same system. Apparently every attempt to get a work unit has added a host. I have been selecting each inactive host link in turn and deleting it from my computer list. I have so many dead systems listed(all dupes of the same sys) that I have not made a dent in the number after quite a while spent deleting them by hand. Is there a better way to get ride of the dead, duped hosts? |

Once you get them down to a small enough number then you can merge them all in one operation. This thread will show you how to prevent more hosts from being created. BOINC WIKI   BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

AHA merge was much easier of course I did not see the "select all" till I had checked them all by hand too bad it wasnt on the top of the list. oddly enough, my linux box that also runs lhca and uses the same BAM account has only one system listed where this windowsxp system had hostIDs from nov24 to Dec4(today), and between 10 and 20 a day. why would that be? |

There is a bug in the server version here. If the server decides you need a new host ID for some reason it assigns it but does not send it to the client. So every time the client connects after that a new host ID is assigned since the old one is invalid but the client doesn't get it. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
