I only recently attached to lhcathome, and am wondering if I should bother. I know it's going through a transition to a new app/manager, but I see a lot of people questioning the workload, and it's not clear if the project can support the number of volunteer computers attached.

lhc is a project where the workunits are not coming in a regular flow but in batches. The time between these batches can be days/weeks/months.
At the moment they are working at a second project 'garfield'

But this is all earlier mentioned in de messageboards. So please do some reading in the older articles and you will learn a lot more about lhc.

And yes there is a lot of whining of people not getting workunits. Just be patient, workunits will flow at some point into your PC's

Please see a thread I started a couple of weeks ago, Please Note: This Project Rarely has work

Whether you feel it is worth staying once you know the score, well that is up to you, of course.

>> Well Darkclown, I have been a member of this project since early July and have yet to see a work unit from this project, that's 3 months and counting. So if you are after lots of WU's and credit ths may not be the place, just have other projects to back you up.
Let's hope this 'Garfield' series of WU's sends out more work than currently.

Just getting a feel for the "current" workload. I've got plenty of other projects with active WUs, so leaving lhcathome running doesn't hurt anything :)

May i ask how patient should a person be? I will be in my grave before any thing will ever come my way from this project.
Project managers please put your butts in gear.

Please may I refer you again to a thread I started several weeks ago, Please Note: This Project Rarely has work

Whether you feel it is worth staying once you know the score, well that is up to you, of course. But in general the idea is that we volunteers support a project, not the other way round. The fact that there are more than enough volunteers should be a matter for celebration not complaint, in my view, as it means the science needs of this project will be well met.

A related is about how fair the distribution of work is when there is any - for that you may like to see the thread fairer distribution of work.

It might be worth setting the "low work" thread to be a sticky thread here, if that feature is implemented on these forums.
