Hallo LHC crunchers,

LHC@home will restart operation very shortly.

The server hardware has been replaced and its configuration and final testing is being finished now.

Apologies for poor communication with all LHC volunteers over the last month, but CERN is undergoing considerable reorganization at the moment. We will try and do better in the future.

Ben Segal / LHC@home

I'll have to double check but I think all of my hosts are still politely knocking on the door every few hours :)

We are still testing, so errors are quite possible.

Please be patient and thanks for the input.

Ben

Hello LHC,
You're back !

Do you want to get banned for 31 years, your account and credits deleted at a Boinc project ? Predictor@home is your best choice.

A most momentous event, to be celebrated in the non-alcoholic beverage of your choice (well, I would have offered beer, but the local mathematician downed the last one)

Known problem, I solved it on my project (maybe not a very clean fix :) but haven't sent patch yet. The problem is that when you go to edit your preferences, the "no avatar" option is checked, so when you press "Save preferences", apart from updating whatever you changed, you remove your avatar. Workaround is simple: each time you go to the form, click "Use this avatar" option (no need to upload again).

Please, do open also the account creation for LHC@home Alpha -project. We need more alpha testing, don't we?

What is "shortly" compared to infinity.

Ben,

Before you send out new work, would it be possible to clean out all of the old orphaned results from the database (Some dating back over a year)??

Thanks,
Glenn

I could attach now, no more error about cgi logfile. Also got some workunits, but it can't download the input files. Nice progress, keep on the good work!
