Can we get some more computer experts inWell of course they can, silly. All you gotta do is send them 1000 $1 coins. They'll plant the coins and the coins will grow into 1000 money trees that the additional manpower you request can harvest at will. Heh, heh... not bad, Dago. I needed that laugh! Even at your worst, it's cool having you around. Good to see you posting on the forums!! _______ "Three quarks for Muster Mark!" . . . . . . . - James Joyce, Finnegans Wake . . . . |

We really need some work to do. After 7 years on dial-up Internet was finally able to get a DSL connection in my area and now I can really sent back data if we are given a chance to compute it. Can we get some more computer experts in to set-up your machines and at least get a count of where we all stand as far as completed credits are concerned. In the first place we are here to help them, not the other way around. Secondly, when there is work the pigs take 98% of it leaving very little for the rest of us. LHC doesn't care so I have suspended them until such time as they actually need my help. Why fight about giving help to people who don't want it? -- David Stites Mount Vernon, WA USA |

Was just wondering, at cern the big particle thingy (cant remember the name of it at the moment) should be up and running by th end of this year. Once it is running, will we get lots of work? |

Oink! Oink! Oink, an onomatopoeic word for the sound of a pig (Wiki) An useful and a very nice new word to me. Surely, Dagorath is a dearest specimen of our niffty pigsty. Oink! |

at cern the big particle thingy (cant remember the name of it at the moment) Um... note the name of this website. It is my understanding that workunits here are simulation data used for the design and fine-tuning of the collider, not data from actual science operations, which are to be analyzed by a network of computers at universities and research institutions. |

A simple update once in a while would suffice. Can I get work units or can't I? Are some people getting units and I can't, what is going on..... |

A simple update once in a while would suffice. Can I get work units or can't I? Are some people getting units and I can't, what is going on..... The project is still in transition. There is currently no work being sent out. Patience has always been key here. I don't expect work for some time yet and even when we start getting some again, it likely to come in short bursts with long pause in between. Questions? Answers are in the BOINC Wiki. Server Status Up, out of work no work in progress 9 concurrent connections That pretty much tells it all on the home page. Usually more than 9 concurrent connections though. (but I will let you know if there is more work......seconds after I load my machines) Volunteer Mad Scientist For Life |

Yes we are still working on the transition here but if there were work units to be done they would be up and you would be crunching them. The users who generate the jobs are working on a bunch more but they are not ready yet. |

It would be nice to see the 1.6.2007 home page updated more often. Hi, my first post here. I will second that request. Please could you try to update the News on the front page at least once a week, the current latest news item suggests that some test jobs would be coming soon. That was almost 3 weeks ago. Thanks, Keith |

You may understand this, but just in case you or others don't, 1.6.2007 in the context of how dates are handled in UK / Europe means June 1, 2007, not January 6, 2007. |

FYI: 21.06.2007 10:20 BST {That's 21 June 2007 @ 09:20 UTC} So the move has been made and the system is up and running. Alex is ironing out some tiny little bugs and we are waiting on some jobs to run. Neasan thinks he has finished the new look for the site and forum and that will go live soon once he's happy with it. We know it's frustrating waiting for WUs to crunch but we are happy that soon the drought will be a flood. As always thanks for hanging on in there. Alex and Neasan It's getting closer ..... can you feel it? Chas - Orme's Tun, Mercia, Albion. |

Probably. It is one of the short date formats you can pick within Windows (and probably other OS)... Us techie-geek types use dots a lot... I would use dots in my phone number, like 800.555.1212 |
