Well I just got all the work and added 1,616,042 credits to my stats and did all of that in a nano second on just 3 computers!












Actually since LHC has always been this way I go full speed with Einstein.


But since LHC has been up and out even more than the beginning I decided to run the Boinc-Seti in place of LHC on my faster machine just to run up the stats like back in the Seti Classic years.


(no I don't run the box of my stats on these pages since I remember how much slow torture I would get on the dialup since 1999 and really feel sorry for those still stuck with that)


But I do let LHC run in the background 24/7 just in case...........

Actually it is. Of course, we now have to define what type of unit we have 42 of, and which base 42 is actually in :P

More serious answer: only evil never sleeps, so by extension only evil never takes a holiday either.

If you're lucky. I always have LHC connected, and I think I completely missed out on the last two batches of work.

Each failed request for work seems to create a greater delay between it and the next request. Eventually it partially gives up and won't make another request for like 5-7 days. If you're in this state when work is released, I think you're going to miss out.

As for the original question, I don't think anyone knows when more work is available. If you stay connected all the time, hopefully you'll get some. You could also check in very regularly, but apparently entire work batches can be gobbled up within 1 hour or so, so you'd have to be pretty luck on when you check, too. Letting the program handle it is probably the easiest way, even if it still requires some luck to get work.

I must have blinked and missed it, but one of my computers got some work on the 5th. 20 work units with a total granted credit of 0.2 cobblestones. Yes, that's a total of 0.2 - each WU claimed 0.02 and was granted 0.01. Must have been those super extra short WUs...

I to check the LHC@home website for new work most days and have missed the last 3-4 times work has been sent out. I think this is mainly 'cos only a few WUs have been sent out.
I would just like to point out that the LHC is not finished yet. Completion is set for mid 2007 and experiments to start in 2008. I think the WUs given are for magnetic test purposes. When the LHC experiments (ATLAS etc.) are gathering data it will be equivalent to the data throughput of the whole of the euro telecom's systems. This should give everyone enough WUs.

I was using an aardvark as a unit of time. I maybe the first to do this. You may only use an aardvark as a unit of time if you have prior consent by said aardvark, in writing and witnessed by said aardvarks parents.

Never heard of Cerebus. I thought it was a 3 headed dog (or was that fluffy?) until I just googled it. Apparently it's an aardvark on the edge. On the edge of what is not specified.

BTW the Germans have no word for fluffy. Must get the German ver of Harry Potter.

1/42 of the time between WUs seems like the best definition to me.

HMVS Cerberus - His Majesty's Victorian Ship Cerberus. Pre-Federation Battleship - Non dreadnought. I know it's there, I've divied in and around it. ;-)
