Hi, how do I turn off the communication deferred stuff? Currently the LHC communication is deferred by 167:59:10 And the number will increase rather then should there be no work avaialbale in 167 hours and 59 minutes. :( Any suggestions? Thanks, Christian |

how do I turn off the communication deferred stuff? It is OK. The boinc client increases the connection intervall on every non successfull connection attempt. For example if no work is available or the boinc client could not connect to the project servers. This should prevent that the boinc clients made a "DDOS attack" by flooding the projects servers with requests. |

While that idea isn't bad, I don't think it is ok. With the current setup it is very likely that my client will never get any work. When LHC has work the workunits are gone very fast, in under 167 hours. So if I'm not lucky and retry communication exactly when LHC has new work units, I will always be without. |

Hi, That happens when there is a file missing and the "get" fails. If you wait a few hours and click on update it will probably restart the normal communication deferred clock. Click here to join the #1 Aussie Alliance on LHC. |

It should not have gone to a one week backoff unless it had 4 consecutive failures getting the master file list. And that usually only happens when the servers are unavailable for an extended period of time. Normal deferrals should not go more than a few hours. I think you may have had problems on your end because as far as i can tell from my logs, the LHC servers have not been down lately. 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 |

I just deleted the project and tried to connect again, but I get a message saying the project is temporarily unavailable. :( I can't connect |
