Communication deferred

Currently the LHC communication is deferred by 167:59:10 And the number will increase rather then should there be no work avaialbale in 167 hours and 59 minutes. :( Any suggestions? The boinc client increases the connection intervall on every non successfull connection attempt. For example if no work is available or the boinc client could not connect to the project servers. This should prevent that the boinc clients made a "DDOS attack" by flooding the projects servers with requests. ID: 14278 · Reply Quote

This should prevent that the boinc clients made a "DDOS attack" by flooding the projects servers with requests. While that idea isn't bad, I don't think it is ok. With the current setup it is very likely that my client will never get any work. When LHC has work the workunits are gone very fast, in under 167 hours. Thanks, Christian That happens when there is a file missing and the "get" fails. If you wait a few hours and click on update it will probably restart the normal communication deferred clock. And that usually only happens when the servers are unavailable for an extended period of time. Normal deferrals should not go more than a few hours.
