The team that I have joined has no founder as he passed away on the 16/8/05. I would like to take the team over with the hope of increasing it when I get the Web page thing sorted out. I have asked this of all the projects in the team as I participate in all of them. I am the only other member of the team.
So I am asking to be made the team Founder.

Thanks for the kind words John. I posted to Cats on the team forum so thought I'd let you know what I said: "I've already spoken to him in Rosetta, he politely declined."

Conan was quite gracious particularly considering the trouble he's had with this on Rosetta.

Although, if you want to help recruit for us, we'd be for than happy ;-)

To the Project Administrators,
As this project is back on the go I would like to see if this matter I asked about over 70 days ago could be seen to.
As stated above I would very much like to made the founder of this team. I am the only active member since the founder passed away (16/8/05).
If this could be done it would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

As far as I know a team will not disappear no matter how long it is idle, it just goes from an active team to an inactive team.
I will give it this last try and see what happens, it appears a fairly simple request to me.

Another thought. You have been made founder of this team name in other projects. If in other projects the original founder's email is a free service like hotmail, they are normally deleted after a period of inactivity. In which case you should be able to use the email address to change the founder to yourself.

I have the same problem with our team 'USA' team ID 26. The former founder is MIA. I suspect he was a victim of Hurricane Katrina that hit the gulf states in September of 2005. He has not been seen posting on any message boards and his hosts all stopped shortly after that. Dont' know his real name or how to contact other than project related emails. I have emailed him many times in the last year. Unfortunately the only contact information I have is an AOL address and a Hotmail address. I just recently tried (again a few minutes ago) to signup to both those services using his addresses, but still after 1 year they are not available. I was able to get 2 projects to convert our team to me without much trouble, but still have 7 others to go, LHC being one of them.

So when there is an admin again, please convert me also.

The admin can look up most all other projects and see I am team leader. Email me if any additional information is needed, I will do my best to supply any.

My suggestion which one project did, email both old founder and requested new founder at the addresses registered with the project, requesting a response, If no response is received from the old founder within 30 days, change the founder to the newly requested one.

I have been thinking about some team related functionality improvements for BOINC on and off for a while. This thread has promted me to submit some of these issues to the developer mailing list along with some possible suggestions to help in such situations. I'm not sure they are GOOD suggestions but we shall see if anything comes of it :)

A discussion has been ongoing for a solution to this issue on the developers email list.

I have started a thread on our team phpBB.

All who have any thoughts on what to do should your team founder go missing are welcome to visit there and post any comments or suggestions.

I started the thread with a recap of the email discussion with what seemes like a reasonalble soultion.

You do not need to join our team or our message board for this discussion, it is in an open to guests area.
