I have quite a few wu's where the main result has been granted credit but since yesterday I have not had any wu's validated. Is there a problem with the validator?

Live long and crunch.

I wonder if that's anything to do with the DNS change? Perhaps there are quite a number of people who haven't reset their own DNS windows thing as said in another thread. It may mean a lot of missed deadlines.

I think The Gas Giant is referring to WU where a quorum has been established already and credit granted to the first 3 (or 4). Results returned later still show as pending. I have a few WU like that myself.

I also have one where three results have been returned and they are all pending (of course in that case it could be there's no match yet to form a quorum)

I've got the same problem on 6 wu.
They are all validated and returned in time. But, since the quorum has been already reached, they got no granted credit and they are still pending!
Maybe when the deadline will expire something will change...
Hope it works!

I just checked the status page and it shows the sixtrack_validator lxfsrk4101 Running. So I too wonder what is up with the validater. None pending here but that does not stop me from being curious about why yours are still in the pending state.

Ditto here, 3 wus returned yesterday after quorum was met, still pending.

(Plus 1 returned June 18 where my result was the last of 3 -- but one of the results is half the credits of the other two so it may be waiting for more to validate.)

I am now disabling network activity to stop my BOINC uploading LHC results until this problem is fixed. The good thing is I have enough work (overall, not just LHC) to last a few days.

That's been a problem for quite some time, I've tried to report it before without much success.

Other participants tell me it's a known problem, somewhat brusquely, with this project. Being that it’s in beta I thought we were supposed to report problems. Silly me.

Right now it looks like the results table is just plain not there or has some major problems. The pending credit page displays a "this is not a mysql result resource" error message and all my hosts have 0 work units associated with them which is most definitely not right. On the bright side, I might be able to finally delete some of my ancient hosts that that had old, stale work units associated with them :) Unfortunately I'm thinking that may be a bad idea until this problem is resolved.

Oh and also, the XML stats haven't been generated for 1.5 days and counting.

At first this looked like a new occurrence of the infamous file_deleter bug, but with other problems surfacing it seems that there more to it than that.

It looks like there's a fairly serious database corruption.

I hope someone notices...

I just got a reply to my note to Ben Segal - he's getting someone to check the database, so with luck these problems will be ironed out in a few hours.

For me, the quorum problem where the 4th or 5th result isn't granted credit has been going on since last July, as I've said before, there are probably hundreds, maybe thousands of results pending, taking up drive space.

Might be a good idea to sort these probs out before introducing another application to the project.

While the project isn't sending out any work, isn't it a good time to grant credits on all the pending wu's outstanding, some for more than a year, thereby clearing the database etc of all outstanding results and freeing up disk space, on Alpha aswell.

Would also be a good idea to sort out the sending out of work units so that the quorum isn't exceeded before the dealine date the initial wu's are sent out so that the pending credit problem doesn't happen again. Other projects don't have this problem, so maybe someone@LHC should talk to them.

And who, precisely, is going to do all this work?
