Here's the error. Its been retrying for about 10min. Is this a temporary thing or are they bad workunits? I had 7 other WUs upload ok.

I did a google search and found this
http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=1041
They basically waited 7 hours and it cleared up.

If anything, It's likely a boinc client problem rather than 'bad work units', and based on the google search results, kinda rare.

Another thing to look at may be firewall settings.
I remember that some software firewalls (sygate personal firewall has a checkbox to do this in it's settings) go into a more secure mode when a screensaver is running.

I'm not the LHC Alex. Just a number cruncher like everyone else here.

Or if you are trying to upload this morning you can refer to the front page that the servers are down until this afternoon. If it doesn't clear up by the end of the 20th, I'd be concerned.

It's "this evening" here and in some parts of Australia it's already the end of the 20th. Would be nice if project admins didn't assume people know which time zone they're referring to.

I guess LHC is in a GMT+1 time zone or thereabouts, in which case it must be mid afternoon already? The website is (obviously) up but I can't upload or report results - getting http errors.

Looks like they may have some sort of routing problem. One of my machines connects ok, the other reports:-

20/06/2006 15:27:19||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
20/06/2006 15:27:21||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

If you stop and restart BOINC, this problem will go away. It appears to be something to do with BOINC still trying to use old DNS values cached somewhere.

Cheers,
Gary.
