Greetings: O.K., according to the front page... Server Status Up, 16178 workunits to crunch 66315 workunits in progress 43 concurrent connections So why am I not getting any work units? I'm crunching SETI@home and Einstein@home with no problem, but no work units from LHC@home. Am I missing something here? |

Post something from your message log - that might give us a clue. Gaspode the UnDressed http://www.littlevale.co.uk |

Thankyou for replying Mike. I will include messages. But one of my problems is that I run an Athlon 64 4400x2 dual core processor and I have SETI and Einstein and LHC set on 100 for resources used. Maybe I should be using another setting because I am trying to run three projects on two cores. Here are the messages. Most of LHC is at the bottom. I hope that you can make something of this info, and I sincerely thank you for putting up with my lack of knowledge as a beginner. Looking at your account info you hav`nt got a computer connected to LHC. |

Thankyou for the info Mike, but I went through the attachment process and it says that I am attached to the project, so I don't understand why it says that I don't have a computer connected to it. I must be doing something wrong, or I've missed doing something I should have done, or there must be a bug in the system somewhere. I am at a lose as to what to do. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated. Well, at least SETI and Einstein are running and crunching. Best regards to you Mike, Rob |

Rob, do you by any chance have no new work enabled? From the log it looked like you connected to the site but was not asking for work. |

It could be that your BOINC client is working off some long term debt on another project first. Without seeing your client_state.xml file I can't really tell. An idea is to go to your projects tab and suspend SETI and Einstein, then select LHC and Update to see what happens. |

I'd like to say "Thanks" to all you, Mike, Travis, Trulayne, and Bird Dog, for your replys and help. Sometimes being a Newby isn't easy and can be frustrating for everyone. I took the suggestion to disable SETI and Einstein and then do and update for LHC. Work units were finally downloaded to me from LHC. So now I can crunch data for LHC. However, LHC still has no info on my computer. That's a little weird. But perhaps that will be listed when I send my first results in. I'll have to do some searches in the forums to see if there are still a few bugs in the system, and see what problems that others have had. However, I also realize that I have some learning to do. As soon as I get the time. (Life is hectic, must slow down.) Many thanks again for all your help. Best regards, Rob |

Here are the messages. Most of LHC is at the bottom. However, LHC still has no info on my computer You are posting under the account ID of Robert Charles Williamson while your host is linked to the account of Robert Williamson. |

Thankyou Thierry: I updated my account to Robert Williamson, took my middle name Charles out. But it still shows no computer like the host I.D. Robert Williamson does. Now I am feeling pretty stupid being a beginner at this. Any idea what I have to do to fix that? Best regards, Rob |

I think the best thing is to detach and start again. I assume that the Robert Williamson account is not yours. Maybe you should detach, create a new account under a name that has no confusion - RC Williamson, or perhaps, Williamson-the-Destroyer maybe? ;) Make sure the email address you use matches exactly (case sensitive!) the email address you use elesewhere so that your cross-project ID ties up properly. Then reattach with the new account credentials. You'll lose a small amount of credit associated with your defunct account, but hey - you're not getting it anyway! Well, I have discovered something else. Although I am now crunching for LHC, my BOINC Manager shows 0 resource share, although I have all three projects entered at 100. And LHC shows no work units done although I have already sent some in, and they send me more. I guess that I have two accounts somehow, and can only access one when I enter into my account at LHC and it is the one that shows no action or computer for me. Don't know how to fix this. Once this is all cleared up, I'll have to buy you guys a beer, or two, or three. Best regards, and thanks, Rob |

O.K., this is what I tried. I detached, and re-entered under existing account Robert Wiiliamson with same e-mail address and password. It looks like that got rid of the Robert Charles Williamson account. There is now a computer listed and everything else seems to be o.k. And now LHC says it has no work, so it looks like I'll have to wait for the next time to get any work. Well, at least I was able to do several work units, and get them uploaded, even if I didn't get any credits for it. From what I have been able to find out, sometimes there is a long wait for available work from LHC. I hope there will be more, and that I will be able to contribute again. My sincere thanks to all fo you who have had patience to help out a person who is new to this and learning, while making a few mistakes. Best regardes to all, Rob |

There is a long wait sometimes - sometimes it's only a day or two. Unfortunately there's no rhyme or reason to this. Even the LHC administrators (although there aren't any at present) don't know when there will be work. The work is submitted by a physicist in Canada, through an automated system, so it's sometimes difficult to get a clear idea of when work is available. Meanwhile, do the best thing: crunch something else! Happy crunching! Gaspode the UnDressed http://www.littlevale.co.uk |

Looking at your account info you hav`nt got a computer connected to LHC. He has to have a computer connected he has a message log. It wont show until he returns a result. Click here to join the #1 Aussie Alliance on LHC. |
