My config: WinXP Pro SP2 @ P4 3.2GHz(HT disabled), 2GB RAM Network: 2Gbit over LAN (works fine) Boinc 5.2.13 (but problem was on previous versions too) When connecting to LHC server my system stucks. I can't do anything for about 10 seconds, then everything goes fine. I work on this computer, so this is quite annoying. I don't think it's local problem becouse Einstein, ClimatePrediction and QMC works fluently. regards - Michal It's some situation, when two hangs took place: 2006-03-24 13:30:14|LHC@home|Sending scheduler request to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi 2006-03-24 13:30:14|LHC@home|Reason: To fetch work 2006-03-24 13:30:14|LHC@home|Requesting 604800 seconds of new work 2006-03-24 13:30:19|LHC@home|Scheduler request to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi succeeded 2006-03-24 13:30:19|LHC@home|No work from project 2006-03-24 13:34:24|LHC@home|Sending scheduler request to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi 2006-03-24 13:34:24|LHC@home|Reason: To fetch work 2006-03-24 13:34:24|LHC@home|Requesting 604800 seconds of new work 2006-03-24 13:34:39|LHC@home|Scheduler request to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi succeeded 2006-03-24 13:34:39|LHC@home|No work from project |

I've seen WinXP apps stutter a bit sometimes if DNS resolution is a bit slow. If the CERN DNS system is loaded, or access to it is loaded, then this might explain why only LHC has been affected. It might be worth looking at your DNS set up, or maybe adding a hosts file with the addresses. Gaspode the UnDressed http://www.littlevale.co.uk |
