Since some time i did not use my account. Now i wnated to re-join and was getting this message:

The account key is not the same as the cross project ID. I would advise that you set a password since you are logged in. Then use a 5.x.x client with the email address and password to attach.

Received a notice in the BOINC Client "Notices" tab very similar to and "Invalid or missing account key - please remove and reattach project to fix"

For whatever reason it appears that clicking "removing" in BOINC Client (not clicking "reset project") of LHC@Home then signing in reset my account to Dec 11 2017 as the date of creation and credit is basically at 0.

- Initial Total Credit: 1,694,410.38 as of Dec11 2017 on BOINC Stats.

- Original Sign-up date to the project: 2005-08-26 on BOINC Stats.

How can this be fixed?

I also started getting error 'Invalid or missing account key' and the site didn't recognize my email address when I tried to log in. Started happening last night at some point.

Almost like something or someone just deleted my account, doesn't show up on the teams list either I was participating in and all the credit has disappeared.

I created a new account with the same email and it went through just fine as if I never had registered with the same email previously.

Hi Guys,

I have the same problem. I had 5,800,000 credit when the log said I needed to remove and add the project again. I am unable to add the project again, as my email is no longer recognised. I resigned up, and now I too am at "0" credit!

Sorry about this, we are investigating what happened.

In fact we are running a delete_spammers script as a cron job on LHC@home to remove spam since a while, and I wonder if this script has changed behaviour after the BOINC upgrade and has triggered false positives.

We will restore a backup of the BOINC database to compare the user account records, and use them to recover accounts with credit that the spam cleaning script may have deleted by mistake.

I have exactly the same! I removed the Project and tried to re-add it and got No Account

LHC@home: Notice from server
Invalid or missing account key. To fix, remove and add this project.

we have *at least* two old members of l'Alliance Francophone whose account and credits have been deleted - and they cannot post here because they need an account !!

My account vanished too so I had to re-create. Naturally my almost 6 million points vanished. Gggrrr!

Additionally my team founder position vanished but I recovered it when I signed up again, joined my team and initiated the Founder transfer.

I think LHC@home need to fix the problems ASAP.

We have recovered a backup database and the missing accounts have been recreated. (See news forum.)

For those of you who registered again, we have transferred the credit from the old accounts.

Our apologies for this mishap.
