I have two WU's that are still pending. They appear to have finished OK. All the other results associated with the WU's have been processed correctly, their credit granted if they were OK or an error message if they were late or failed but mine are still pending. URL's follow:

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/result.php?resultid=6512074
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/result.php?resultid=6512097

Any ideas, I have stumbled across a brand new Noble Prize-winning bug :) :) :)

Comparing your results with that of the rather more vocal guy from Belgium, it looks as if results returned after the first 3 have been validated are falling by the wayside.

Sorry, you'll have to share the prize for the bug :P

No dount the admins will sort this out when they get round to it.

There is a known bug in the deleter that deletes results once a quorum has been reached, even if there are outstanding results still to come in, and even if the deadline has not yet been reached. Results affected by this will always be the last results to come back, and never get credit granted.

There is a fixed deleter running on the Alpha test platform, but it makes substantially more demands on the server hardware, and consequently it hasn't yet been rolled out to the production platform.

The "vocal guy from Belgium" has a different problem: one machine seems to have had every result left at pending. There was a database crash in January that might be responsible, or there may be some as yet unidentified fault with that machine.

Could be a case of "all of the above". Some of his results were definitely not among the first three to be returned.

I wonder how many other have this problem? So far, I don't, but then I'm upgrading one of my Winboxes to Debian tonight :D

Still pending !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it weird, I must admit, that some people are so desperate to get the last result in (in the totally mistaken belief they'll get extra credit for it - BOINC doesn't work that way, children) that they'll deliberately delay the end of a project by weeks.

I think you think you you know what other people think. I think your a fool but that doesn't make me right and it won't change the way you think - I think.

So I'll tell it to you like your a four year old. There is a problem with the project, I still have pending credits. Will this problem be rectified and can the moderator put an age check on sQuonk, I don't think he's old enough to be left alone on a computer 8-)

Can I have my credits now? And while your at it, add two hundred in intrest!

Is this really necessary? Maybe we should just ban Australians if this is their attitude.

No, I upset him by confusing threads: mixing up "pending credit" and "pending WU". My mistake.

Leave him alone, it's not the end od the world and maybe he's got other worries that make him extra touchy at the moment. I know some really nice Aussies who can spell and don't assume only males use a computer :P

Mitch, I believe that the fool is not that which you believe....
If you don't upload your units in times, you will NEVER have your credit which are attached there. Either you cancelled them and returned as it was still time, or you make your mourning and you pass to next one!
For the interests, I have pity of you.

<leaps to Mitch's defence>

While this is true, he did return his WU within the allotted time, as far as I can tell. There seems to be (have been?) a glitch which only takes the first 3 results returned for a WU and ignores the rest, even if completely valid.

I've notice something else with this bug. The WU's with Pending status are holding up the deleting of the remaining results for other users. See my results and follow to the other users.

[edit]I ment to add the details. Click the hyperlink > WUID 999470 > CID 80964 (pending) > Results 216 > 215 pending results and one at zero Granted Credit![/edit]

Yeah (sigh), that's the same bug. So it's been around for about six months.
Damn, I thought I found it first :-(

I thought we were out off beta testing ;-) (I had to check before I wrote that).

As it happens, I know a very lovely French, opps, I mean Parisian Lady. Or I did for 15 years, she's back in Paris now :-( Talk about your high maintenance friends. She had no trouble spelling, just needed me to translate her accent, annoyed her no end. I thought it was cute but that only made things worse.

If there is anything wrong with my spelling, blame Bill Gates, I run it through MS Word first (Natalie used to help me with my spelling, but no more).

Funny you should mention "don't assume only males", I've heard that from a number of different places. That, and we don't assume monoculture.

Here are two more are still living in the database:

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/result.php?resultid=3407702 since 4 Oct 2005
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/result.php?resultid=5686836 since 31 Jan 2006

When time passed by, they became good friends of mine. Every time I had a look for results, they were there. Even in the time of drought, when no workunits were available, they stay aside.
So please, don't kill them! Keep my old friends alive ;-)

Happy crunching

"Free software” is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of “free” as in “free speech”, not as in “free beer".

I don't think there's been any change made for this problem.
