Please put me right if i am wrong but the screensaver does not appear to be a representation of what the work unit is doing. It just appears to look pretty cool at first but does not give you any idea of what it really is calculating, apart from the turns? A real representation is what we need, please.

I\'m with the other two guys, the screensaver doesn\'t even really represent what the WU is doing. Don\'t get me wrong, it\'s cool as hell, but more information on what is actually being done/calculated/analyzed.

I read somewhere that a different screensaver is/was being developed and I was wondering on the status of that side project.

i would love it if all projects would have to have real screen savers so anybody can see what science they are doing but the only way i could see that happening is if there is a universal screen saver made that can be fairly easily or automaticly make any project a screen saver. either that or have it outsourced to india but then you would have many headed gods making the science (the gods part is a joke but that could also be entertaining).

If someone knocks at your door with three heads and eight arms
and one of the heads has an elephant trunk and looks angry,
pretend not to be home.

Despite that risk, I also vote for some sort of screen saver that :

a) doesn't steal too many cycles from the boinc project,
2) that looks cool enough to attract new users
iii) gives at least a hint as to how far along you are in the work unit.
last) If it can depict something graphical about what it is computing, all the better.

I\\\'m perfectly happy with the current version ... if only it ran on the new BOINC, or could be made to run as a standard screen saver independent of the project.
