I've installed BOINC as an application (Windows). Is there a way to make a service out of it, without reinstalling? The preference menu is not rich in features...

A repair install should allow you to select service mode. If not then uninstall and reinstall, your tasks should be preserved during the uninstall.

Most of the preferences are on the web site check there for more options. Remember you will have to contact the server before the changes take effect.
